Kings XI Punjab → Punjab Kings – Franchise renamed to Punjab Kings. Officially announced few moments ago ☎️ Churot ^DancePop 16:07, 17 February 2021 (UTC)

The franchisee name is now officially updated across all social media platforms. Kings XI Punjab is a defunct name, This should be changed Sayswalk (talk) 16:51, 17 February 2021 (UTC)

Comment: The WP:COMMONNAME is still Kings XI Punjab as can be seen in a simple google search. It will require a few more days for it to become the common name possibly by the time RfC duration expires. Then we can move it. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 16:58, 17 February 2021 (UTC)

There is no doubt, it is only that Wikipedia requires a bit more time as per rules WP:COMMONNAME and WP:NAMECHANGES. The number of hits for the new name as compared to the old name in reliable WP:Independent English language sources should get higher or should show a trend like this. It is already 56,000 for "Punjab Kings" and 1,90,000 for "Kings XI Punjab" now. Hopefully it will get much closer by the time of the auction when more media will start reporting. Do exactly what was done to Delhi's franchise when they changed the name from "Delhi Daredevils" to "Delhi Capitals". The owners haven't changed like the Hyderabad's "Deccan Chargers" to "Sunrisers Hyderabad". Only the name has changed. Lokeshwaran V R (talk) 06:34, 18 February 2021 (UTC)

Editing Captain Tab for Punjab Kings
