For your information, you have to capitalize the word APOSTOLIC!

While it often capitalised, it is not always. Do you have a source for your claim that it must be capitalised? Wikipedia generally doesn't capitalise words in titles apart from the first one. -- Ec5618 23:05, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
I believe the article naming follows the WP:MOS#Titles, which says that a title used generically is not capitalized. This article is at protonotary apostolic just as a similar article is at prime minister. When used as a title of a specific person in an article, both words would usually be capitalized. For notice: all senior prelates (prelati maggiore - from chapelains of His Holiness upwards) are adressed as "most reverend", what is the translation of reverendissimus, only priests and junior prelates are adressed as reverend. In Roman-Catholicism styles like the englisch "very revend" and "right reverend" doesn't exist.

In Catholicism, in English, "Most Reverend" is reserved for bishops, and is not used for any monsignori. "Very Reverend" is used for diocesan consultors and deans/vicars forane, and "Right Reverend" for Abbots.2601:600:9681:30B0:C1B8:DB78:7D7B:454E (talk) 00:17, 22 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
In Roman Catholicism, as soon as there are words in a language such as English, they may be used appropriately. Btw, it is doubtful whether a Chaplain of H.H. is a prelate at all (in Germany, he is the only one to be called Monsignor because the others, and they only, are "(Rev'd.) Mr. Prelate"); he is most certainly not a senior prelate.--77.4.44.254 (talk) 21:54, 22 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Pronunciation edit

How is this word pronounced? A pronunciation key would be helpful. Snottywong 16:15, 2 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Reverend Monsignor edit

To adress a Protonotary Apostolic as reverend monsignor is an American misuse, because of a tautology!!! Correct use would be: (Most) Reverend Sir or Monsignor — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.4.109.119 (talk) 20:51, 4 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
