Commander in Chief edit

There's no section on the role of the president as commander in chief and the section on this downplays the presidents powers as such (it also doesn't touch on the unconstitutionality of the war powers act, which is why it wasn't applied when it was violated)

I found a source for this but I don't do good at HTML http://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/commander_in_chief_powers — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.200.230.239 (talk) 21:52, 1 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

I'm going to see if I can find some good sources to cite on this, (as basically the president has the right to break it then say it needs fixing to congress, as messed up as this seems) but this section does not currently give an accurate impression. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.200.230.239 (talk) 21:50, 1 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

They? edit

"If the president opposes the bill, they can veto it". Who? This mixture of singular and plural is confusing. Bever (talk) 23:27, 3 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

How to rephrase "As head of the executive branch, the president appoints the top officials for all federal agencies" edit

The article said "As head of the executive branch, the president appoints the top officials for all federal agencies"

I can think of a few exceptions in law enforcement. The Capitol Police aren't under the executive branch at all; they part of the legislative branch and are overseen by a board that includes each house's Sergeant at Arms, each of whom is selected by that house. The head of the U.S. Marshals Service seems to be appointed by the Attorney General, although that's perhaps less significant, because the Attorney General is appointed by the President.

I changed it to "nearly all", because it's definitely not all. But I'm not sure how many exceptions there are, and whether it should be "nearly all", "most", "the vast majority of" or some other phrase. 47.139.46.149 (talk) 06:05, 27 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Details are vague re: Emergency Powers (which body of Congress is in charge of approval?) edit

In the Emergency Powers section, the page says that a president requesting emergency powers would have to seek approval from Congress.

But the page doesn't specify which body of Congress is in charge of making that decision — the House, or the Senate.

That seems like an important detail.
