Merge

Kaminia (Piraeus), Greece should be merged into the main article on the city. It doesn't seem to be notable on its own. Eluchil404 21:26, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

The page has been edited accordingly. I believe the page should now be merged into Piraeus with its own subcategory. Thank You.

Piraeus is noteable on its own because of its significance for classical and literary study, (particularly the long poem by H.D. titled "Toward the Piraeus)

It is also mentioned in Plato's Republic in the opening lines of Book I "I went down yesterday to the Piraeus with Glaucon the son of Ariston"

• It appears the article, Kaminia, should be rewritten without the personalization of the remarks and included in this article on Piraeus with its own subheading, since it is an alleged neighborhood of Piraeus. See my remarks in Discussion under Kaminia... Stevenmitchell 12:02, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

I think that the article about Kaminia shouldn't be added unless the articles about Nikeai, keratsini etc are added as well. I mean Kaminia is a seperate perfectory, isn;t it? Thank you D.

I suggest the Kaminia Page be merged with this one, and we'll figure out what to do with it then. It's nothing but a neighbourhood of Pireas. El Greco 23:15, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

I've merged Kaminia into a new section called Neighbourhoods. I suppose it should be completed with more than Kaminia :) By the way, it's true that the Kaminia stuff seems much more an advertisement article than anything else. Well, this is indeed more of an advertisement than an encyclopedic entry. First of all, Kaminia is not beautiful. Second, most of Piraeus' people are Olympiacos fans and some neighbourhoods are actually closer to the stadium so that point is moot. Finally, I don't think the Gate 7 incident applies to Kaminia specifically and, if anything, it should be a separate article. My opinion: Completely remove the Kaminia section and use the Neighbourhoods section to list all neighbourhoods in Piraeus (or if anyone could draw a map of Peiraeus' neighbourhoods)

Greater Piraeus

I think that the area (50.4 km2) and the population (466,065) of greater Piraeus should be added in the infobox.

Orphaned references in Piraeus

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Piraeus's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Greek shipping and the recent history of the port of Piraeus

Piraeus sifting to Athens

Piraeus is by no means a part of Athens, it's actually connected to Athens by the Athens - Pireaus urban area. Therefore any reference of pireaus being a part of Athens must be deleted (I. e it's located in the Athens riviera) 79.131.60.169 (talk) 18:28, 7 June 2022 (UTC)

The name of Piraeus in Greek

It seems Piraeus is normally spelt as Πειραιάς in Greek, but I have also seen the spelling Πειραιώς, such as in the name of Piraeus Bank which is spelt as Τράπεζα Πειραιώς in Greek. In addition, Google Translator also translates Πειραιώς to Piraeus. Does anyone know the difference between Πειραιάς and Πειραιώς? --Roland (talk) 19:33, 28 July 2022 (UTC)
