Early life

  • Loathing the name "Perce," Malone insisted on being called "Pat" instead. — Any word on when this started?
    • I think it was early in his life (hence its inclusion in this section), but the source's didn't specify. Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 12:17, 29 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Lying about his age — To the team, the Army, or both?
  • Returning to Altoona after his military service — When? Any details of his service?
    • I said he served a year in the Army. He returned after this year. All details of his service given. Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 12:17, 29 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Did he also attend Juniata College?
    • The source's wording is "and had a short stint as a football player at Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania". I would assume he attended it, but I think phrasing it this way is more consistent with the source. Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 12:17, 29 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Minor League career

  • The Giants agreed — Why did they relent?
  • How many games did he start per season?
    • Several categories of early minor league stats are unavailable, and this is one of them. Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 12:17, 29 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • repeated curfew violations — Any more details on what he was up late doing?
  • Were the Beaumont Exporters in the same farm system as the Minneapolis Millers?
    • Back in the 1920s, minor league classifications were not what they are today. Baseball-Reference does not list these teams as being part of any system back then. Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 12:17, 29 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • How did he land with the Shreveport Sports? Trade? Expired contract followed by a new contract?
  • Also making four appearances for Minneapolis — And how did he make it back there?
  • In general, I'm confused about how Malone was jumping between teams, be it promotions, demotions, new contracts, or what else.
    • It may be confusing, but the sources don't give information on all these transactions. The most important things are that he played with the teams, and how he did with them--this is given. Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 12:17, 29 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • The deal was for $25,000 total — To Malone, or to Minneapolis?

1929

  • What was the series score going into game 2? Game 4?
  • a couple more — How many?

1930

1931

  • shoulder problems — Any more details?
  • calling his performance "distasteful. — Odd word. Any more details?
  • suspended Wilson — For how long?
    • Source doesn't say. Back then, a suspension likely would not have been for a certain amount of games at the outset. Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 12:17, 29 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

1932

  • stop carrying on so much — What does this mean?

1933

1934

  • contractual bonuses that he would have become eligible for had he won 15 games — Any more details? Was it one bonus (15 wins = x money), or multiple bonuses (for multiple benchmarks)?
  • He eventually reached an agreement with the Cardinals — Details?

1935

  • Malone made only two starts in 1935 — Why?
    • I would assume it was because he was getting older, but sources don't say. It is not our job to speculate. Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 12:17, 29 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • neither of which was a good performance — Details?

1936

  • This section should have a topic sentence. "Nonetheless" isn't great to lead off a new section; something like "Despite Malone's lackluster performance the previous year, ..." would work.
  • "got himself knocked out in the second inning" — A bit vague/casual.
  • "Malone entered and pitched six innings" — Was this his first appearance of the year?
  • "it was Malone's best start" — He didn't start.
  • "In 68 innings pitched out of the bullpen, his ERA was 2.12 in the latter part of the year." — Were all 68 innings referred to here in the latter part of the year?
    • Not sure where "in the latter part of the year" came from; not mentioned in source; removed. Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 12:17, 29 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • "no more than four runs in either of the outings" — How many runs per game?
  • "Malone recorded a save" — But you just said these weren't yet a thing.
    • I said it wasn't yet an official statistic; I didn't say it wasn't yet a thing. Under the definition of save, statisticians have credited them retroactively. Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 12:17, 29 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • "came in the 10th inning" — Bottom (walkoff) or top?
  • "giving Malone his only World Series championship" — Somewhat inconsistent with the lead, which says that "He played for ... two World Series champions". I get the distinction (World Series roster), but the emphasis in the article's lead and body is different.

1937

  • The Sporting News portrayed Malone as a "stout-hearted has-been of another era" — Why? Didn't he do well the season before? Or (as Wolf is about to say), didn't he display "magic"?
    • They probably just said it because he was getting old, but it's not our job to speculate. Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 01:17, 4 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • According to Wolf, he was "unable to duplicate the magic from the previous season" — Why? It seems odd here, given that it's right after a line about him pitching out of a jam and then doing well for the rest of the game.
  • Any information about his starts?
    • None of them were really that notable, so I don't think they need to be covered in greater depth. Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 01:17, 4 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Final professional season (1938)

Career statistics

  • "In a 10-season career" — "In a 10-season major league career"?

Pitching style

  • "Standing at 6 ft 0 in (1.83 m) and 200 pounds" — If you're going to convert feet to meters, may as well convert pounds to kilograms.

Practical joker

  • This is a bit of an odd short section, and is probably best incorporated into "Personal" or "Pitching style".

Personal

  • Any information about Seeley, e.g., her background?
  • Any information about his legacy, to the extent he has one?
    • This is found in the last paragraph of the 1934 section; not really long enough for its own section. Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 01:19, 4 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
