Jesus Seminar edit

Not that they cannot be cited, but their comments in this case are simply irrelevant to the question of interpretation. If you think it belongs in a section concerning whether this section belongs in the Gospel, well, then it might have a place. But then it opens up the discussion to what *everybody* says --- note well that the Jesus Seminar is not well-regarded even by scholars who agree with their conclusions. --Rekleov 16:25, 15 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

To the contrary, my impression is that the Jesus Seminar is quite well regarded. Their conclusions are often unorthodox and even heretical, but are articulate and well-researched and consequently widely read and respected. Their membership includes many scholars who are notable in relevant fields. We should also note that many of the english-speaking scholars who might otherwise comment to this effect are employed by conservative Christian groups such as theological colleges!Andrewa (talk) 21:21, 12 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Commentary on Sirach Inappropriate edit

Talk about cherry picking - why is a commentary on the Old Testament book of Sirach used to explain Jesus' parable taken from the New Testament gospel of Luke, especially when the sense of it directly contradicts Jesus' own words in the succeeding verse?
