黎&26126;（Leon Lai）was born on December 11, 1966 in Beijing. He is one of the most popular film stars in Hong Kong. Leon came from the 5th annual singing contest, the same one as Andy Hui. Leon won third place. Before Leon became a singer, he worked as a salesperson for a cellular phone company.

Trivia: Lai Chit > Lai Ming

The previous version mistakenly identified the Chinese character Chit as Dawn. Chit means fast. Ming, combined with his last name Lai, means dawn.

Four Heavenly Kings

Chinese media refers Leon Lai, Aaron Kwok, Andy Lau and Jacky Cheung as the Cantopop Four Heavenly Kings.

Removed passage

The lowpoint of his singing career came at the 1991 Hua Tong Flood Charity Concert. After his performance on stage, he was requested by a significant donor who wanted him to perform again. While performing the song Sorry I Love You, he went completely out of tune at the high note but he managed to complete the performance on stage. This event made him a target of critics and a butt of all jokes at the time and later earned him the tag 'out of tune' Heavenly Kings. However, inspite of it, his fans still supported him.

The above passage was removed by 70.80.220.194 on 29 March 2007 unnoticed. Hence I would like to solicit opinion whether it should remained as being removed or should it be added back. Realdan 09:27, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
