Hey all, there was a discussion on my talkpage about perhaps spinning out a standalone article on paniolo; the redirect currently is to the subsection in the cowboy article. I favor the idea, I'm just not the one with time to do it. There is also a need to improve and correct some of the content in the existing section. My thoughts were to clean up those few paragraphs for a start, then spin off a larger and longer work in a separate article. We have similar articles for charro, gaucho, and so on. If anyone is interested, I'll point you to the discussion at my talkpage and would be glad to assist with wikignoming. I'm just not up for heavy lifting at present. Two syllables edit

I don't wish to re-open old wounds, but this statement is confusing: "The pronunciation of the word pa'u is in two syllables because of the use of the Hawaiian diacritic called the okina." It's confusing because there is no okina in that sentence. GA-RT-22 (talk) 22:26, 18 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

The apostrophe used serves as an okina in English-language text, and does for Hawaiian words throughout Wikipedia and English media. Softlavender (talk) 03:17, 21 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
