Early inspiration? edit

The first section states

an early inspiration for both the New Left movement . . .

but the EN wiki page for the New Left movement (linked) has absolutely no mention of this person.

Translation of German article edit

I did some (relatively) minor reconstruction of the German article because it is almost entirely chronological, which fractures some of the topics, especially Bauer's attempts to unify Austria and Germany. I also added background material -- usually just a phrase or two -- where the author seemed to be assuming more knowledge of Austrian history than the average English language reader is likely to have. The background material was a bit more extensive in the section about the Linz program, where I used some information from the German article "Linzer Programm (Sozialdemokratie)", which has no English language equivalent.

Biased Language, Not Suitable for a Wikipedia Article edit

"Otto Bauer's multilayered world of ideas was characterized by an impressive but fragile mixture..." "...wishful thinking..." (in multiple places) "...fascinating analyses..." "...his weaknesses as a politician." 2604:CA00:15A:DB4:0:0:26D:73E3 (talk) 17:14, 28 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

I agree that the overly-emotive wording made the 'Analysis and wishful thinking' section especially read like an opinion rather an encyclopedia article -- and the fact that it was a direct translation from the German article doesn't make any difference. I stripped out the offending words and left it sounding quite a bit more even-keeled. Thanks for the feedback. GHStPaulMN (talk) 22:15, 28 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
