Spelling and voice types edit

On 24 November User:Jacob Carpenter modified the voice types and the spelling of some singers' names although they were reported according to reliable sources duly cited in footnotes (the article by Margaret Murata in The New Grove Dictionary of Opera and Le magazine de l'opéra baroque). He did not either add or modify footnotes with the result the statements he had edited appeared falsely corroborated by the sources previously cited.

Not having noticed he had also added a further work by Murata in the list of sources, I immediately undid his edits with this justification: 'Restored info according to the sources cited'. On 15 December the same user undid my revision with the following justification: 'I have [Doctor] Margaret Murata's "Operas for the Papal Court, 1631-1668," using her notes on this opera there. Grove Music Online was also consulted'.

Since I do not want to open an edit war, I hope that someone else will be willing to intervene. I just wish to point out:
1. The note 1 has become unclear as two works by Murata are now cited.
2. The voice types indicated by Murata in her Grove Dictionary article do not correspond to those edited by user Carpenter.
3. The spelling introduced by user Carpenter does not correspond either to Murata's (Grove Dictionary) or to Le magazine de l'opéra baroque's , it is sometimes rather unlikely in Italian (del Pani for Dal Pane), and it is different from that adopted by the Wikipedia articles referring to two of the singers (so that the links have become red).

I apologize for my English.--Jeanambr (talk) 17:53, 20 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
