Not on NRHP edit

Removed that category on article page. Couldn't find it listed at all on the National Register. If it's there, or some part of it is, it'll need to be cited. --Ebyabe 02:47, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

POV and Notability edit

This is not the only thing in the world called "Old Plank Road". I was looking for the one in Illinois when I came across this article. Is there really a need for an entire article in an encyclopedia on some obscure old road in California? 69.95.236.27 (talk) 22:04, 12 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

The page is worthwhile, but it certainly ought to be renamed. -- Mwanner | Talk 13:05, 9 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Merge the various plank road articles? edit

Perhaps this short article might be merged into Plank road? Rwood128 (talk) 12:36, 4 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

I oppose this merge, as the trail is of historical importance and notable. What remains of it is a California Historical Landmark that is protected under the US government Bureau of Land Management. The Old Plank Road, was the path used to cross the Mojave desert, some of the most extreme land in North America. The article is poorly sourced and written in shallow terms - it should be improved. It's important that we do not lose this history. The Old Plank Road history is not well covered online, but in California history books, and in the local museums of the Mojave and Anza Borrego deserts there is more information. Like other routes and trails in North America, it was an indigenous people's crossing of the desert, these became immigrant trails before they got "planked" for early motor vehicle traffic. The article should be improved. Netherzone (talk) 14:52, 4 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
