Cyan edit

is it really cyan? for me its clearly light blue Braganza (talk) 21:32, 12 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

The party's color is cyan, specifically process cyan, as per the party's statutes and virtually every news outlet referring to the party's representation in the Legislative Assembly as the "cyan bench". PizzaKing13 ¡Hablame! 09:28, 25 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
@PizzaKing13: does cyan have the same meaning in spanish though?
How about calling it azure Braganza (talk) 08:49, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I agree it is light blue (as much as they call themselves "cyan". Process cyan is #00B7EB while the flag on the article is #00AFEF. I'm afraid @PizzaKing13 is editing according to his bias for supporting president Bukele (which he admits on his talk page).

Ideology edit

"While Bukele himself has been described as a conservative politician" It should be mentioned that he was seen as a left leaning politician before he came to power. They only began to be describe him as conservative only after he spent a few months in office. Consensus on political spectrum edit

Yeah this page seems to be edited a lot in terms of "political spectrum". I 100% think that if we're going to keep it, it should be "Centre to centre-right". Right now it's "syncretic" with no sources explaining how, I don't think that there's anything "left-wing" about it personally but I wouldn't call syncretic an accurate description. It just feels like a buzzword. I personally think we should just delete the whole "spectrum" part. Gnerkistanislaviyort (talk) 08:43, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Solid work and pretty exhaustive. Good on you for maintaining NPOV despite supporting the party, too. Just some copy tweaks to be done. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 16:46, 12 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Lead edit

  • No need to put (TSE) in the lead because it's not mentioned again here. See also in History
    •  Y Fixed.
  • Ahead of the upcoming 2024 general election, Bukele has announced that he is running for re-election and Nuevas Ideas leadership has stated that the party aims to win all 60 seats in the Legislative Assembly. Comma after "re-election". See User:Sammi Brie/Commas in sentences (CinS)
    •  Y Fixed.
  • Nuevas Ideas has been described as a Bukelist political party, following Bukele's political ideology. According to Anna-Catherine Brigida and Mary Beth Sheridan of The Washington Post, the party is "based more on his [Bukele's] image and performance than on a traditional political ideology". Possibly merge these sentences with a semicolon
    •  Y Fixed.
  • The party's primary color is cyan and its secondary color is white. Make this something like The party's colors are cyan and white and maybe merge it with the next sentence.
    •  Y Fixed.
  • The party, described as being populist, utilizes social media outlets to communicate with the public and spread propaganda to support the government and oppose the opposition. That's not terribly innovative these days, but if they're known specifically for their social media strategy, maybe say that differently.
    •  Y Fixed.

History edit

  • Xochilt This is probably a misspelling of Xóchitl
    •  Y Fixed.
  • Reintroduce the TSE acronym meaning here as first use in the body.
    •  Y Fixed.
  • He was inaugurated on 1 June 2019, becoming the first president in 30 years since José Napoleón Duarte of the Christian Democratic Party (PDC) left office in 1989 The "in 30 years" breaks the flow of the sentence and is redundant.
    •  Y Fixed.
  • the first election the party participated in Change to "the first election in which the party participated" to not end the sentence in a preposition.
    •  Y Fixed.
  • formed a government with GANA, the Christian Democratic Party, the National Coalition Party (PCN) Missing an "and"
    •  Y Fixed.
  • In February 2023, Castro not only confirmed that Nuevas Ideas was formally looking into reducing the number of municipalities from 262 to 50, but also that they were looking into reducing the seats in the Legislative Assembly from 84 to 64. This sentence is long and a little redundant in context. Perhaps:
    • In February 2023, Castro not only confirmed that Nuevas Ideas was formally investigating municipal consolidation but also that they were looking into reducing the seats in the Legislative Assembly from 84 to 64.
      •  Y Fixed.
  • the party postponed its primary elections for 9 July Should be postponed to
    •  Y Fixed.
  • 44 mayors to the municipalities Try "44 mayors"
    •  Y Fixed.
  • "irregularities" ("irregularidades") Is this necessary?
  • Should be "Santos's", MOS:'S
    •  Y Fixed.
  • Nuevas Ideas has smaller bodies and structures on the country's departmental and municipal levels. Should be "at", not "on"
    •  Y Fixed.

Symbols edit

  • The party's "N" logo has been sometimes referred to as "the N of Nayib" ("la N de Nayib"), or simply "the N" ("la N"). The comma is unnecessary.

Ideology 2 edit

Source 91 FES does not say anywhere that NI is left-wing. The first quote you mentioned only states that NI has attracted left-wing voters, and the second quote groups it with left-wing parties, but with the context of the first quote, that doesn't correlate that NI is left-wing as it would be referring to its left-wing voters. PizzaKing13 ¡Hablame! 04:38, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

No, the first reference does not mention it, but it has absolutely nothing to do with it. Its voters can be left-wing and the party as well 2800:2503:4:C66B:1965:29AC:AD21:D46D (talk) 09:56, 6 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hello, how are you? To begin with, the article clearly speaks of the party as a left-wing one. It does not literally say "Nuevas Ideas, of the left" but it makes it very explicit, in addition to referring to its voters in this way. Therefore, I suggest that the information be added again. There is no reason why this information should not be in the article. Best regards.

And (although nothing to do with the previous discussion),if I can add it, here is a reference that the party defends a welfare social state: https://revistas.ues.edu.sv/index.php/rcs/article/download/2511/2513/6123. 2800:2503:4:C66B:DDD1:C8E1:8B3D:5102 (talk) 10:07, 6 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Political position edit

I think the party's position needs to change since the "big tent" category is very vague and simplistic for this type of parties. I think we should reach an agreement to change his political position. We should add syncretism as a position and state that it combines policies of populist neo-Keynesian center-leftism in the economic sphere (such as the donation of computers, the free use of many sectors, price controls, high taxes, etc.) with conservative (or ultraconservative) right-wing policies in the social sphere ( such as his position against abortion, LGBT rights, equal marriage, etc.). Bukelist argentinian (talk) 18:24, 6 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Do you have multiple sources which state it is syncretic. It is currently labeled big tent because the sources state so. Changing it based off of what we perceive it to be would be WP:OR. PizzaKing13 ¡Hablame! 20:54, 6 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
