How is the term "Guaymí" perceived socially?

How is the term "Guaymí" perceived socially by the people themselves? Is it viewed as pejorative, or has it been "reclaimed" as some other terms have been (none come to mind right now)? Jimw338 (talk) 16:00, 28 January 2019 (UTC)

Guaimí is seen for what it is, a pejorative term. The people call themselves Ngäbe AteneaZ3 (talk) 05:42, 17 September 2022 (UTC)

Meaning of "guaymi"/"guaymiri" in Buglere?

What is the meaning of "guaymi"/"guaymiri" in the Buglere language? Jimw338 (talk) 16:06, 28 January 2019 (UTC)

The heteroglotonym guaimí, probably derives from the Buglé ngwamigda meaning indigenous or gwarare, gwa minta, meaning "like worms" a derogatory way to refer to the Ngäbe that passed into Spanish. AteneaZ3 (talk) 05:13, 17 September 2022 (UTC)
