Baseball edit

Simon Winchester's 2003 book "Krakatoa" claims the World newspaper was in fact the source of the name for the baseball championship, but I've moved Pappas link from the World Series wiki page to encourage reading. --Crid 06:49, 28 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Featured graphic . . . edit

Just my personal opinion, but I feel the Mark Twain front page is more emblematic of the World that is a photo of a mat that may have been used in printing the paper. The mat is very dark, but the Twain graphic is bright and colorful, more like the newspaper itself. Remember, it did use colored inks. Sincerely, GeorgeLouis (talk) 21:21, 24 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

cited note not available? edit

http://query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=9E01E3DF103BE03ABC4D51DFB166838C609EDE Abraham Lincoln's "forged" note is not available at the link provided in the article anymore. I'll start looking for a copy to replace it in the citation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by OneRyt (talkcontribs) 22:33, 7 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Name of this newspaper and article edit

I believe the correct name of this newspaper is "The World", not "New York World". Copies I have seen invariably have at the top of the front page only the words "The" and "World" separated by artwork. Libraries that have it index it under W not N. I have never seen any issue from any year that has "New York World".

I suggest renaming the article to The World. JoeBrennan (talk) 20:24, 21 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

No mention of the USS Maine sinking? edit

Their involvement in sensationalizing it and push for a war with Spain seems like a real good example for the accusations of sensationalism and yellow journalism, more so considering the USS Maine article already mentions this. 87.223.71.227 (talk) 00:50, 23 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
