Pic? edit

There are a lot of pix of Nadia Murad extant. Obviously it would help if we could snag one. Sca (talk) 21:58, 27 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Sca can one snag the pic by simply attributing the source without a copy vio issue? Nannadeem (talk) 21:27, 28 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Lede edit

She has a horrible story to tell. That said, the lede should not be so promotional "Nadia's mission is sponsored and supported by Yazda: Global Yazidi Organization."2607:FEA8:D140:8D0:8027:8606:51F7:8AAF (talk) 06:41, 3 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Dates of captivity edit

I tried to add dates of her captivity, but I've read 3 newspapers articles based on her interviews, and they all seemed contradictory.

  • Her first (anonymous) interview (2015-02-22) in "La Libre" stated the whole episode was in "late August - early September". So, 2 or 3 weeks of captivity.
  • The Time article (2015-12-20) gives a precise date of capture (2014-08-15) but says she was able to escape in "November 2014". So, about 3 months of captivity.
  • The "Vice" article (2016-02-18) was amended with the following note "An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated that Nadia Murad spent eight months as an ISIS captive. She, in fact, spent several weeks in captivity.". The text still mentions that, four month before visiting the UK, she got out of Isis hands on march 2015, which is absurd, since she had given interviews in February.

I could not find an authoritative source, so I chose to mention the 2 end dates while giving the source of each. Mytskine (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 15:33, 7 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Kurdish edit

After clicking various links, I get the impression or sense that Murad is Kurdish. Why or how is that not clarified, and not in the lede? -DePiep (talk) 19:34, 7 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Source? MPS1992 (talk) 22:45, 7 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
Already in there through Yazidi. -DePiep (talk) 22:47, 7 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
So no change needed, then? (The BBC News article I read about her today, described her as an Iraqi Yazidi, which I think is what this Wikipedia article also currently describes her as.) MPS1992 (talk) 18:05, 8 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
No, I meant to sway that "Kurdish" is sourced already in the Yazidi statement. btw, the lede writes "German-based Yazidi-Iraqi", fwiw. -DePiep (talk) 18:10, 8 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
So. She is based in Germany at present. She is Yazidi. She is an Iraqi citizen. Are you OK, and if you are not OK, please explain why. MPS1992 (talk) 21:06, 8 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

No, not done. Why do you keep evading the question? -DePiep (talk) 07:01, 9 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
The question is, what is your source for stating that she is Kurdish? MPS1992 (talk) 07:44, 9 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

External links edit

Links to two 2016 interviews and a 2018 documentary are listed under 2018 Nobel Peace Prize > External links. Would they be more appropriately placed in this article? Litjade (talk) 20:45, 11 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

I have interviewed her and there are missing information about her and her husband like ethnicity, this has to be added since she is not Arabic but Kurdish, Jin1979 (talk) 08:50, 21 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Date of birth: really March 10? edit

The ref used in the beginning does not make any reference to March 10 as her birthday. Using Google did not really help to verify this date either. I could also find other dates. I suggest to remove March 10 as her birthday until we can find better sources. 80.71.142.166 (talk) 06:20, 24 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

She posted on Instagram that her birthday is March 10th. While Instagram usually isn't a reliable source, it can be used for uncontroversial info about themselves per WP:SOCIALMEDIA Emk9 (talk) 07:21, 24 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
