Does anyone think it would be a good idea if i added a Konica Minolta Multifunction Printer link in the external links. I also see that there is no infotec external link either.

Became affordable in 2005?

I removed the following from the artice: "In early 2005, the first affordable color MFPs became available, costing less than $/€1000 in the form of the Canon imageCLASS MF8170c. Based on A4 color laser printers, other manufacturers followed." MFPs have been extremely affordable for many years (our first one cost £120 in 2000). If you're referring to laser colour printers, then reinsert saying so. Also, be careful as to what you define "affordable". Mouse Nightshirt 12:55, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

Concerns over content

This article seems very one sided towards the "small" MFPs in the market, designed for home or SOHO use. However, without completely rewriting the article, I don't see any good way to include more information about "office" MFPs and POD (print on demand / AKA "Production") MFPs. I'll give it a go when I'm not so tired, but if anyone checking this doesn't like what I've done, please consider how to improve it. 78.53.146.35 (talk) 21:22, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Updates and More updates

The above un-logged-in user was me. I've started doing some major updates now, but still have a lot more that I want to do. Looking at the direction it's going, I think this may end up as a rather large article. If it gets too large, I wonder if it could perhaps be split it to two articles - one "AIO" and one "MFP" since that's where the main split with regard to features, functions and so on is. I'll carry on with both here in this article for now, but I'd appreciate others thoughts on this. YttriumOx (talk) 05:59, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

I'm doing yet more updates now, and have expanded the "Types of MFP" section a bit. I also added images for the missing MFP types except Production Printing (I'll get a photo of one soon). Due to where I work (Konica Minolta), I was only able to get photos of one brand of MFP though (Konica Minolta). I think it's best for neutrality to keep a range of different brands for the images (which of course is why I didn't replace the Canon, Samsung or HP images), so if anyone can supply alternative pictures from other manufacturers (maybe a Ricoh MFP of some kind for example?), it would be appreciated. I can't find any that fit with the licensing for Wikipedia images, which is why I took my own photos at the office. YttriumOx (talk) 17:11, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

For anyone keeping track of all my updates, the next thing I want to do is really clean up that "Characteristics" section - I want to re-organise it to be easier to understand for the lay-person, so was thinking of getting rid of the "scanning", "printing" and "copying" bits and instead rewriting them as "input" and "output" and then moving some of the parts that fall in to the network areas of those removed sections in to "network" instead since it's pretty small right now. Just at this moment, I have neither the time nor the patience to do so, but if anyone has any thoughts on this before (or after) I do it, please comment here. To the person that tried to hijack the page

Clearly, you have some interest in Sharp specifically, and that's fine. But please improve the article by adding more information or clarifying existing information rather than just removing information about non Sharp products and adding links to a Sharp dealership that serve no useful purpose in the article. I'd really appreciate that if you know anything about Sharp OSA, create an article for it, since that's an article that currently doesn't exist. I MIGHT write something on it soon as I have some idea about it and can find some good/reliable public sources for information, but I'd prefer someone who knows it well (and can find good/reliable public sources for their information as well of course) do so. This also applies to anyone who can create an article on Xerox EIP or Canon MEAP (or any other technologies that aren't listed here yet). YttriumOx (talk) 02:02, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
