Talk:Monster cereals

Notes edit

This article currently includes all the information that appeared in the five seperate articles written for each monster (which was mostly cut and paste from one to the next). I copied the Count Chocula and Franken Berry references in popular culture as they were, though I'm sure there's a lot of stuff there that shouldn't be on wikipedia. Maybe I'll get to that soon. Image copyright problem with Image:Yummy Mummy.jpeg edit

The image Image:Yummy Mummy.jpeg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

The following images also have this problem:

Invader Zim reference edit

The reference to Invader Zim has a link asking "which" because it just says "An episode". That episode is "Career Day" of Season One. Not sure how you guys handle that. This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --11:03, 5 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Possible merge to this aticle edit

I recommended that Fruit Brute be merged here as I think both articles are small enough to make them better as a combined topic. With that said I also found that when some other articles were "Merged" here they were redirected and not "Merged" as shown here:

So if we do merge these, we should look at the links I provided and incorporate the material, not just redirect the articles. Kumioko (talk) 02:07, 29 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Fruity Yummy Mummy edit

There appears to be some confusion regarding the current formulation of Fruity Yummy Mummy because of the product image that is being used.

Originally (from 1987-93) the cereal was fruit flavored with vanilla-flavored marshmallows. When it was relaunched in 2013 the flavor was changed to orange cream with plain marshmallows. The product image in the article is of the original version, not the new version—the fact that it looks different from the original Fruit Brute is explained by Fruity Yummy Mummy having been introduced much later.

For the new version, please see Monster Cereals Fruit Brute, Yummy Mummy Rise from the Dead. You will see an image of all 5 Monster Cereals as of 2013, including Fruity Yummy Mummy, whose package design is substantially different from the image shown here on Wikipedia.

The change in flavor is also mentioned:

"...whereas both cereals were once 'fruit flavor,' now Frute Brute and Fruity Yummy Mummy are 'cherry flavor' and 'orange cream flavor'" (as explained elsewhere in the article, the spelling of Fruit Brute was altered slightly).

I happen to have a box of the new Fruity Yummy Mummy, and I can assure Gune that it is indeed orange cream flavor.

In 2013 Target stores carried the Monster Cereals in retro packaging (but in their current formulations) which might add to the confusion. I suggest adding current product images if available for both Frute Brute and Fruity Yummy Yummy.

Monster cerealsMonster Cereals – Monster Cereals is a trademarked term. Zombiewizard45 (talk) 07:19, 21 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Seems like a very generic trademark to me. – wbm1058 (talk) 19:16, 25 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Count Alfred Chocula? edit

Didn't this "name source" start from vandalism here, and spread? I'm wary on if we should continue using it, cited term included, since it all started from vandalism here. We had removed the original uncited vandalism while it had such a mass spread, and now it's back with a citation, one that's just a random "bathroom reader fact book". I'm just unsure on what this situation should be, even if it's a book source. ZootyCutie (talk) 14:08, 27 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

I repeated this as fact a few minutes ago but then doubted it...it's EVERYWHERE on the internet. Even the trivia book may have gotten it from Wikipedia vandalism, right? (I don't have access to the book offhand.) Ardric47 (talk) 17:05, 21 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Constant Creature Crunch rumor edit

What has been causing this rumor to randomly start popping up here? This character never existed, and I don't know why "proof" keeps getting insisted with for a single fanart piece that way too many copy as fact. ZootyCutie (talk) 15:28, 11 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

I agree. The same happened on the Crossover Wiki and I had to fix it. Johnjohn01 (talk) 01:17, 12 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
