When clicking on [Help] and [About Microsoft Word] in Word 97 it shows "Microsoft® Word 97 SR-2 Copyright© Microsoft Corporation 1983-1997. All rights reserved." Word 97 is the predecessor to Word 2000 (showing "Microsoft® Word 2000 (9.0.xxx)…") and Word 7 (showing "Microsoft Word for Windows 95 Version 7.0") is from Office 95. My point is that Word 7, Excel 7, Access 7, PowerPoint 7… are the predecessors to Word 97, Excel 97, Access 97… which again are the predecessors to Word 9 (Word 2000), Excel 9 (Excel 2000)…

The Office 97 applications didn't have the number 8.0 although the previous Office 95 applications have the number 7.0 and the following Office 2000 applications have the number 9.0. I purchased a computer in the year 2000, OS MS 1998 and loaded with Microsoft Office 2000. Yesterday when I tried to open my file in Excel, the screen showed me my Software installation Number and asked for a Confirmation Number. To me its very confusing. From the Year 2000 I had used Excel without any problem and now I had been asked for Confirmation Number.
