Removed "Amongst the Core Group Nations of Haiti, some of their ambassadors notably the Secretary of the State of the U.S. during the Obama administration former first First Lady Hillary Clinton decided that Maretlly was the winner." from the end of "Political Career" because it lacked a citation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.114.196.201 (talk) 14:42, 13 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

I didn't notice any information about what he was doing during Haiti's earthquake disaster. Any information about that? Did he help at all or did he only return to run for office???Mylittlezach (talk) 11:18, 7 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

evidence? edit

where is the cited evidence for this? It sounds like it is made up: "In 1995, after Aristide had been restored to office, Martelly's name appeared on a hit list of coup supporters, and he stayed away from Haiti for almost a year." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:8802:5700:2DE0:85AC:CE89:F96:8D2B (talk) 08:50, 21 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

"additional citations for verification" tag edit

It seems that this tag could be removed in light of 10 current references. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.114.216.93 (talk) 20:22, 28 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Move edit

This article probably ought to be moved to Michel Martelly, as it seems likely that the political aspects will outweigh the musical aspects of the article.RandomCritic (talk) 20:38, 4 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Support. We can't have an article about a president named Sweet Micky. :P SpeakFree (talk) 20:58, 4 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Sweet MickyMichel Martelly — Because his political role will most likely outweigh his musical career. SpeakFree (talk) 21:21, 4 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • Support. News coverage of the recent election usually calls him Michel Martelly, or at best Michel "Sweet Micky" Martelly: compare [1] and [2]. Ucucha 01:01, 5 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
  • Support He's obviously not going to call himself "Sweet Micky" when he takes the office of president 142.207.88.52 (talk) 01:14, 5 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
  • Support His notability, while first acheived through music under his nickname, is already greater due to his political career. Also needs a more suitable infobox soon, if anyone feels qualified to do so. Kevin McE (talk) 08:30, 5 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Michel Martelly's Education edit

A college in Florida is mentioned as Michel Martelly's "Alma Mater". Usually an alma mater is a place of highrer learning from which one received a degree. Martelly never graduated and therefore this should be removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Context23 (talkcontribs) 17:14, 10 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Bal Bannann Nan edit

There should be a mention of his latest song, Bal Bannann Nan.[1]--Auric talk 17:34, 4 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
