I am asking the editor to delete the phrase on Tahir Efendi (Mehmet Akif's father) "an Kosovan Turk", because the source of reference does not say that he was a Turk, and also because his son Mehmet Akif was not a Turk by ethnicity, but Albanian, who even has a very large poem called "Ben ki Arnavudum" (My name is Albanian), which Mehmet Akif wrote after being exiled in Cairo after he broke out with the Young Turks over the Balkan Wars and the Albanian cause. The remaining part of Tahir Efendi's family in Kosovo, not only are not Turks at all, but not e single one of them know any Turkish.

Mehmet Akif as an Islamist edit

The entry does not reflect that he was an Islamist. It should be stated that he had important disagreement with the republican regime on the issue of secularism. This is probably the most important reason why he moved to Cairo. Nowadays, all historians of Turkish Islamism, most notably Ismail Kara, reserve a special position to Mehmet Akif, in the genealogy of Islamism in Turkey. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.251.74.132 (talk) 10:02, 28 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

I am afraid you are wrong. Mehmet Akif did burn the translation of the Quran he was making as he did not agree that the God is Turk, that God from then on speaks only Turkish, that all prayer poems in Arabic should be only in Turkish, in other words, he was against total privatization of Islam for Turanization (Turkishization). As far as Cairo and Egypt is concerned, he escaped there after burning of the Quran, and that Egypt of the time was ruled by an Albanian dynasty (of Mohammed Ali Pasha dynasty). Two critical questions to you and the Turks: 1) Try to burn the Quran today, and see what will happen to you; 2) What has Mehmet Akif to do with the Turks when he wrote Ben ki Arnavudum (My Name is Albanian) in Cairo, or 8 years before he wrote under pressure the March of Independence for Turkey?!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.114.94.198 (talk) 21:26, 17 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
