WikiNews edit

Why is there nothing about this on WikiNews? --2001:4898:80E8:7:0:0:0:370 (talk) 21:24, 11 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Any wiki material is created at the prerogative of its own author, and anyone can edit, including you. Typically, WikiNews has less traffic and users than Wikipedia, so I assume this is omission rather than an editorial decision that it was not newsworthy '''tAD''' (talk) 13:08, 12 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

bin Laden connection edit

Is mentioning the crane operator's connection to Osama bin Laden relevant to this article? Twirly Pen (Speak up) 00:54, 13 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

It was exploited as a headline-grabber by some tabloids (including the Daily Mail source referenced throughout this article), but the Binladen group is a huge corporation in Saudi Arabia despite the obvious tarnishing of the name. If it's mentioned appropriately according to reliable sources, there shouldn't be a problem '''tAD''' (talk) 08:53, 13 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
Yes, but I'm sure that information is already in Mohammed bin Laden's wiki article. I just don't see the notability of the connection here. Would we mention relatives of the owner had it been another crane operator? Twirly Pen (Speak up) 02:18, 14 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
I agree, it doesn't make sense. 64.134.62.246 (talk) 03:00, 14 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Photo of crane edit

The article could be improved by including a photo of the type of crane involved in the accident, even if it is the crane that collapsed. For now, I've added an external link to the Liebherr English-language page for the the LR 11350 crawler cranes, but since it is an external source, link-rot could make the pictures go away unexpectedly. — QuicksilverT @ 15:01, 17 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Images of the crane and the havoc and destruction it created can be seen on the [http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1237079 Mecca & Pilgrimage] forum on [http://www.skyscrapercity.com/ SkyscraperCity]. AstroLynx (talk) 10:17, 27 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
