Oh come on - not sure who had to add (Yes I know I could go look but I'm no wikipedia edit queen folks) the "Despite speculation by many due to Mark's effeminate mannerisms, he is not a practicing homosexual" line back in - but is that really necessary??? (I personally don't find his mannerisms effeminate - they're "Mark-isms" - he's his own person - thats all - so why should we speculate just because he's never married? I have friends who are close to his age and never married - they wouldn't want us speculating about their sexuality... why do we feel we have the right to speculate about famous people?)

PS - the speculation about his sexuality could be the NPOV issue could it not? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.34.50.102 (talk) 01:31, 14 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

NPOV edit

There used to be an non-neutral point of view warning on this article. I just did a massive re-write (well, reformat), so I hope that took care of it. But no one noted down what exactly was biased about the article, so I have no idea.

Someone with a more in-depth knowledge of Wikipedia's arcane rules should probably once it over for me. For example, Lowry (it sounds so weird to call him "Lowry") is a devout Christian. How does one say that in a NPOV?

And while you're at it, check the spelling. My spell checker is kind of on the fritz. Odd, I know :-) --Daniel Royer 06:33, 17 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

One way is to point out that he specializes in Christian comedy and records with Christian groups. While that's not the same as being a devout Christian, the two usually go together. Another way is to quote a reliable source as a way of giving outside verification of the statement; articles or interviews would be simple sources to find. Additionally, of course, there's the point that "devout" isn't necessarily a necessary or even useful term. Lawikitejana 02:41, 7 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

There's still some non-neutral statements in there; "[Mark] is single and has no children, which comes as no surprise." Why? Because he's a christian, therefore would /never/ have children out of wedlock, like a heathen? I know thats reading a bit more malice into it then was intended, but it's still non-neutral —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.234.38.173 (talk) 05:16, 10 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

The Picture edit

Image:Mark Lowry.jpg

I grabbed that off of Google somewhere. I probably should have noted the source down.

So it is probably violating some manner of copyright law, and it should probably be deleted.

That said, if I were to take one of my video box covers and scan it, would the resulting picture be okay to upload? Would that be "fair use"? --Daniel Royer 06:33, 17 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Someone has been trying to post or link a publicity photo from some theater, which is likely a copyright violation. I got a scan of one of his albums instead, which qualifies as fair use. Realkyhick 21:05, 28 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Neal Campbell of GeekBrief.TV has offered up this picture for use here, if someone with the rights to do so will upload it. Copyvio edit

I have created a new article for Mark Lowry at Mark Lowry/Temp I've utilized material that I found on Mark Lowry's website and tried to digest it and paraphrase it into something that hopefully doesn't violate copyrights and is not a cut and paste of the Mark Lowry biography on the website. Well Done edit

This article is of a quality that fits the subject well. --207.255.199.12 (talk) 20:57, 14 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

The article contradicts other information available. For example, "Mary Did You Know" music could not have taken 12 years to complete. Kathy Mattea recorded and released the song in 1994, which made the song popular, such that others could know about it to cover it later. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.73.21.213 (talk) 20:35, 11 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Mark’s death edit

Max Lucado, a Christian writer, this morning said the Mark is dead. Either today or yesterday, I don’t know. 2600:8800:328A:4B00:7476:D20A:54CA:67E1 (talk) 23:01, 5 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
