Confusion with WP:SEASON and MOS:SEASON edit

WP:SEASON redirects to a section of Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Dates and numbers#Other periods that relates to the style of presenting seasons. The redirect was created in 2007. As it refers to a part of the Manual of Style and such shortcuts now commonly use the MOS: prefix, I recently created the corresponding MOS:SEASON shortcut. A brief review of Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Dates and numbers shows many items have shortcuts with both WP: and MOS: prefixes.

I then discovered that MOS:SEASONS also exists [created in August 2013, just under six months ago], redirecting to Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Capital letters#Calendar items which includes a discussion on capitalising the names of seasons. Oddly, though, this section does not deal with the broader issue of when seasons should be used.

Having separate shortcuts for MOS:SEASON (or WP:SEASON) and MOS:SEASONS that point to different locations is undesirable as it may lead to confusion when the wrong one is used.

There are only two pages in all of Wikipedia that link to MOS:SEASONS, namely:

As such, it seems that MOS:SEASONS is defunct anyway, so I propose to remove the shortcut from the target to discourage its further use.

If a shortcut were needed, better alternatives would be:

I see ViperSnake151 has changed MOS:SEASONS to redirect to Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Dates and numbers § Seasons. I have also removed the shortcut from Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Capital letters § Calendar items. sroc 💬 11:08, 19 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
