Talk:M1 motorway (Northern Ireland)

Untitled edit

I edited the last two paragraphs as they were giving misleading information. There was never a plan to build the M1 to Newry: it was always planned to go west. And the article implied that it would be a long time before the A1 would be dualled when in fact the final phase of the project is due to commence soon.

However these two paragraphs are really getting off topic and ought to be moved to the A1 page. This page is about the M1, not the A1. Opinions?

I think you are right regarding the A1 information. It has very little relevance here. I would like to see the article split up into sections as seen on the other UK motorway pages, eg. history, route description, junctions etc. I am happy to do this if no one objects. No objections! Fire away. --Tireoghain2 17:12, 30 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Will do (when I have done some more work on other UK motorways). Anyone have any useful history, sites to be seen and development info that I can use? Regan123 21:22, 2 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
I have info on my own web site here http://www.wesleyjohnston.com/roads/m1.html --Tireoghain2 11:25, 3 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Transfer out done. Will clean-up, add junction table, references etc later on Regan123 02:30, 8 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Major Update edit

As promised, I have given the article a bit of rewrite. I hope IU have kept everything notable and moved everything about other roads out to the correct articles. I would be grateful if someone more local could have a read of the article and make sure I baven't stuck my foot in it anywhere and the route is accurate. Regan123 16:47, 8 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Enniskillen edit

The M1 is the only motorway in Northern Ireland completed to its full planned length

Wasnt it originally intended to terminate at Enniskillen ??? 86.112.82.84 (talk) 17:54, 22 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Nope. It was never planned to go beyond the Dungannon Bypass, despite a lot of noise to this effect being made by politicians at the time. 81.138.8.26 (talk) 12:09, 20 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
