Louvet edit

A request for a bit more information, please. Where does the claim that Louis II and Marie Juliette Louvet were married come from?

Louis ignored his father and married Juliette in 1897. Despite the fact that they were married in a consecrated church by an ordained Roman Catholic priest, his father refused to validate the marriage and their daughter Charlotte Louise Juliette, born on September 30, 1898 in Constantine, Algeria, was declared illegitimate.

Juliette was married to Achile Delmaet from 1885 until they divorced in 1893. Did Delmaet (a 'girlie' photographer) die between 1893 and 1897? Juliette would not have been able to contract a Catholic marriage if she had a living (ex-)husband.

If only for my own curiousity, I'd love to hear more about where/when/by whom this marriage was performed. Everything I've read [1] has no marriage [2] has Charlotte as illegitimate, and not later legitimated, and [3] has Charlotte succeeding because she was ADOPTED, not because she was legitimated. (e.g.: Louis adopted Charlotte, his illegitimate daughter, so that Monaco would have an heir and remain under the Grimaldis. She abdicated her right in favor of Ranier, divorced her husband, and lived at the Château de Marchais with one of France’s most infamous jewel thieves. (René Gigier))

Please, educate me! -- Someone else 20:49 Dec 24, 2002 (UTC)

I've done some more scousing about and can find no source which supports the story that Louis and Juliette were married, or that Charlotte succeeded by legitimation rather than adoption. If whoever place the story in the article has such information, I would ask them to cite it. If no verification is forthcoming, I'll edit the standard history into the main article. --- Someone else 20:41 Dec 31, 2002 (UTC)

Now changing to the usual story, (adoption) in the absence of any evidence of a marriage. -- Someone else 21:47 Jan 14, 2003 (UTC)

Where did the information that it was Marie Louvet's step-mother who was the laundress of Louise's regiment come from? Every single written source states that it was Marie Louvet's mother not her step-mother who was the laundress. I would ask that this person cite a source. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.105.150.19 (talk) 09:17, 9 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Abdication edit

According to the Encarta biography of 'Rainier III', Louis II abdicated shortly before his death. GoodDay (talk) 15:44, 17 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
