Labour edit

Labour? Democratic socialist? At the beginning maybe, but surely not any more? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Crab~enwiki (talkcontribs) 13:14, 12 March 2006

Ditto to the US Democrats: they are right wing, quite obviously so, and should not be here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.138.107.181 (talk) 12:12, 12 July 2006

I think you are confusing them with the republicans, the US Democrats are center-left, but most members are probably not Social Democratic129.133.141.48 01:13, 16 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Alphabetical List -- Links revisions + 2 removals edit

  • I revised almost all the links: many were to redirected pages.
  • I un-wikified the country names -- this is def. not necessary in this kind of list since people are looking for parties (& if necessary they can get a county link from the party pages)
  • In some cases, after checking the party pages, I've added the proper names of parties in their own languages.
  • I removed these two entries:
  • Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) --> this is not a party but a labor union federation.
  • Irish Labour Party (North Ireland Labour Forum) (Northern Ireland only) --> This is a redirected page to Irish Labour Party (see Ireland entry) which does not appear to operate in N.I. Also, "North Ireland Labour Forum yielded 3 Google hits (2 of them WP!)
  • I will try and follow up some naming issues (here & on main pages) where there seems to be difference between the party's official name and the WP name. One specifically:
  • Workers' Party of Singapore --> their constitution says name is: Workers Party

Thats all for now -- RCEberwein | Talk 00:37, 2 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Shouldn't the Labour Party of the UK be listed here, they were originally Democratic Social but "New Labour" is definitely Social Democratic129.133.141.48 01:12, 16 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Another Revision edit

  • I have taken the liberty of removing Quebec from the list of countries, as the Wikipedia article on "country" defines it as being a geographic space containing a sovereign territory. Quebec is a province of Canada, not a sovereign nation. Many believe that Quebec is a "nation" and by some definitions of the word they are right, but as many are aware by that same definition "nations" can be said to exist within Quebec as well. It should also be noted that the entries for social democratic secessionist parties in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are listed under the United Kingdom as those "nations" are located within the boundaries of the United Kingdom, itself a sovereign country. Quebec edit

Removed Parti Quebecois, Bloc Quebecois, and Quebec Solidaire. PQ has been dominated by neo-liberalism since the Bouchard years. BQ includes people of all ideologies. Quebec Solidaire is more oriented towards democratic socialism and Trotskyism. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.51.250.101 (talk) 04:15, 30 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Communist Party of America edit

Surely the American Communist party are communist and not social democratic? Is there any evidence to support otherwise? --Welshsocialist (talk) 19:51, 10 August 2009 (UTC) Can I assume it is okay to remove the Communist Party USA from the list. It is listed as Communist on it's own page. If anyone has an arguement to why it is social democratic and not communist they can re-add it and make the arguement. --Welshsocialist (talk) 01:12, 18 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
