I am removing the entry "Sea Peoples/Philistines (uncertain)" because it is in error. The Philistines, known today as Palestinians http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palestinians, are members of the black race. Greeks are of Asian decent http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greeks. These two groups are in no way related. Jeffrey Pierce Henderson (talk) 02:14, 20 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Why is this article mixing Thracians and Thracian Tribes with Greek Tribes? The Thracians were NOT Greek and (thracian greek)? wth is that?

Thracian tribes: Pelasgoi ,Myceni,Macedonians,Epirots,Dodonaioi,Pelagones,Argives. 19:11, 18 January 2011 (UTC))

they should include samoyeds and inuites as greek tribes too.89.205.2.27 (talk) 16:16, 14 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Proposed name change to List of ancient Greek peoples edit

There is a general trend to move away from the term "tribe" in anthropology and historiography, and this has been confirmed on English Wikipedia, including recent CfRs such as Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2023_April_10#Category:Germanic_tribes and Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2023_April_10#Category:Slavic_tribes. Currently there is still a Gauls#List of Gaulish tribes, but the related list has already been renamed List of ancient Celtic peoples and tribes. A CfM to merge Category:Celtic tribes to Category:Historical Celtic peoples is still ongoing, but I expect that to end with the elimination of the term "tribes" in favour of "peoples". Similarly, List of Slavic tribes redirects to List of early Slavic peoples, List of Germanic tribes redirects to List of early Germanic peoples and so on.

This trend is also noticeable when it comes to ancient Greece. If you look for "ancient greek tribes" at Google Scholar, you'll get 93 results, but only 52 results if you limit your search to 2010–2023. All-time "ancient greek peoples" gets you 56 results, but 2010–2023 "ancient greek peoples" gets you 32 results. The trend is much stronger when comparing 2010–2023 "tribes of ancient greece" 9 results to 2010–2023 "peoples of ancient greece" 59 results. The trend is towards "ancient Greek peoples", and WP:AGEMATTERS. Cheers, Nederlandse Leeuw (talk) 00:02, 24 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
