Talk:List of U.S. cities with high transit ridership

Inclusion criteria edit

This list seems very arbitrary: what is considered "high" ? --Bossi (talkgallerycontrib) 22:39, 27 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Updated Data edit

The American Community Survey for 2006 tracks public transit commutes as well. This list should be updated with those data. The chart that I have added is based on those data. --Arturoramos (talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 20:00, 27 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Vagueness edit

This article is extremely vague. What exactly counts as "public transit?" The TRANWORK variable in the ACS is coded with specific transit modes--those should be elucidated in the article so that people can know what is being counted.

I am doing some work with the ACS right now, and my numbers almost match but not exactly. To get the closest match I had to include the TRANWORK indicator for "Trains" which may or may not be in most people's definition of "public transit." Could the author who originally produced these numbers update the article?

I have numbers from the 2009 ACS, but I didn't want to update this page with those numbers until I figured out what was used in the 2006 version of this page (for consistency).
