Improvements of electric lamp edit

I have added the citation for the claim of a patent granted for electric lamp. Looking at the citation it's improvements of electric lamp along with J.V. Nichols. Making the statement inaccurate that LH latimer solely invented the electric lamp. An accurate wording would be a patent was granted of improvements of the electric lamp with co inventor J.V. Nichols. But I dare not step on the toes of those that wish to grand stand on this mans accomplishments for their own agendas and refuse to make the edit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2605:A601:A0C6:1200:D0D9:9659:A5AE:2E1F (talk) 04:15, 19 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Inaccuracy? edit

There seems to be a dubious claim of being first: "While at Edison, Latimer wrote the first book on electric lighting, Incandescent Electric Lighting (1890)"

It seems another inventor working on light bulbs published the book "Electric Lighting by Incandescence" on the subject in 1881, 9 years earlier? [1]

Divorce edit

I moved the following recently added statement to here from the article page:"The two later had a divorce after 18 years of marriage." Might be true, might not be, but the references inthe article do not state this. Statements should have reliable and verifiable sources per WP:ATT. Please provide a citation to a book or other reliable source for statements in the article. If sourced it can be put back in the article. Edison 17:08, 12 March 2007 (UTC)]]Reply

How did he die ? This doesn't have enough information. Wikepedia should really work on this.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.237.211.23 (talk) 03:28, 29 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Edits by 68.118.186.63 edit

This IP editor asserts there is debate among historians regarding Latimer's contribution, but only cites books without even having the year of publication for 3 of 4 cited, and no page numbers at all. Please provide actual page numbers and summarize in this section what the reference says about Latimer, or the claimed "debate among historians" may be removed as unverified. Stating that a book exists is not sufficient. Careful referencing makes for encyclopedic articles. Thanks. Edison (talk) 04:06, 25 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

It is not what is said of Latimer, in any of the book references listed, which were published during and after his life. It is the exclusion of any mention of his contributions, in any of these definitive works. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.118.186.63 (talk) 20:45, 7 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

project edit

I am adding information about Lewis' father and his escape from slavery. Also, about how the Dred Scott decision encouraged his father to flee.

I'm confused at the fact that he ran away in 1842 yet it's posted here that he was born n 1848. So that makes him -6 married and also a runaway. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheBreniac (talkcontribs) 15:01, 13 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
