I've removed the paragraph pertaining to Allatius' supposed belief about Jesus' foreskin becoming the rings of Saturn, pending sources. See also: Talk:Holy Prepuce. --Nydas(Talk) 09:16, 27 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Predictably, some Wikipedian saw the need to re-add such a delightful anecdote to the article without any references. To check out the story I contacted the Vallicellian Library (which holds Allatius's manuscripts) and a college professor who has published on Allatius. The upshot: while Allatius did write an essay called De Praeputio Domini Nostri Jesu Christi Diatriba it was never published and the manuscript is currently unaccounted for, meaning we can't check it unless someone locates a copy. The claim that Allatius believed that Saturn's rings were Jesus's foreskin appears to be derived solely from a 19th century polemic by two British atheists who didn't cite their sources. I've updated the article with some references to this effect. Muzilon (talk) 07:29, 9 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
