Could we remove old teams from this article. This is the IronPigs article, not the area baseball history article. If the other teams are verifiable, create separate articles for them. Feel free to reference them here, but that should be the extent of it. ccwaters 20:00, 3 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Every Major League team includes detailed info regarding previous teams in the area, so it's not something that is irrelevant. JaMikePA 17:32, 4 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Where? Philadelphia_Phillies: one sentence on the A's, Boston Red Sox: nothing on the Braves, Washington Nationals: brief mention of the Senators. ...ccwaters 17:46, 4 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Exactly my point, there's one small paragraph about the Black Diamonds and the Ambassadors. The paragraph meets the criteria that is the standard for other articles. This isn't your page and neither is it mine, but you need to stop trying to impose your wishes on others. Some people, especially from the Lehigh Valley, may want to see some mention of the past.

I count two out of five paragraphs in that section. If I was imposing anything I'd just edit it without discussing it. Hopefully the article won't be as disproportionate after they start playing. I'll hold off on my conquest until then. ccwaters 18:14, 4 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

It isn't your conquest.JaMikePA 18:25, 4 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm glad we are in agreement. ccwaters 18:31, 4 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Will the IronPigs be considered a continuation of the Lynx franchise, or is it an entirely new franchise? If it's entirely new, the reference to the Ottawa Lynx should probably be removed from the info box. Mikehillman 01:30, 4 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I agree the previous history is relevant but should be kept short. It should also be accurate. For example, Breadon Field's name had already been changed to Max Hess Stadium by the time of the Red Sox's arrival. The Allentown Cardinals would also have to be mentioned, though their history is convoluted because of name changes and two one-year gaps. For the particulars, see the Professional Sports > Minor League baseball section of Allentown, Pennsylvania and especially the reference ""Baseball has been down, but not out," Morning Call, March 30, 2008". Retrieved 2008-03-30. I like the suggestion about separate articles, which would allow condensing everything into "Previous teams included..." with the appropriate links to each team. Equally important, this would avoid duplication under Allentown, Lehigh Valley, IronPigs, etc. I'll start the separate articles and will return to IronPigs when they're done.Allreet (talk) 16:08, 5 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Why are the Iron Pigs discussed as a continuation of the Ottawa franchise, but the Red Barons are described as only having "existed" during the term of Phillies affiliation? The Red Barons survive today (as the SWB Yankees) as surely as the Lynx do--in fact, more so, since they didn't relocate. Spark240 (talk) 15:57, 25 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Broadcast Coverage section edit

A couple statements here were questionable. Service Electric has 220,000 or so subscribers, not one million. More than half of these are in Wilkes-Barre and Hazelton, and it's not clear whether the additional systems carry the games. WFMZ-TV does reach the Philadelphia market, but it's misleading to not qualify this as the northern part. Blue Ridge's subscriber base of 175,000 homes was not mentioned, a future possibility though the service area would have to be pinned down since the company is in some far-flung areas. I also cleaned up the wording, renamed the section and upsized the header. Allreet (talk) 01:28, 13 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Merging Ottawa Lynx page edit

The info from the Ottawa Lynx page was transfered to the IronPigs article which qualifies the Lynx page to be merged into the IronPigs page. I reorganized the page historically to meet the criteria of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees page. There is no pro baseball in Ottawa which I think it's safe to merge the Lynx page into the IronPigs page. Silvercoindinerman (talk) 01:23, 31 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
