Kurdistan Region → Kurdistan Region of Iraq – This name is also used more frequently in the media, for example in The Washington Post:[1], also the Danish Immigration Service uses this name:[2], also the Iraq Energy Institute uses this name:[3], even the European Parliament uses this name:[4]. 124.213.17.209 (talk) 20:38, 5 September 2019 (UTC)

• Oppose - Kurdistan Region has over one million Google Search hits, while the number is 344.000 for Kurdistan Region of Iraq so the former is definitely more commonly used. Also per WP:NAMINGCRITERIA. --Ahmedo Semsurî (talk) 20:50, 5 September 2019 (UTC)

• Oppose - I don't really understand the rationale for this RM. The nom says the name is used frequently in the media, but "Kurdistan Region of Iraq" is a description to aid readers of those media articles in knowing what the subject is. It is not the actual name of the entity. This is similar to how many international media outlets say things like "the US state of Nevada"[5][6] but we obviously don't title our article that, it's just Nevada. As for the the name being unclear, I don't see any other entities called the Kurdistan Region - the Turkish and Syrian areas have other names. And, as Ahmedo says, the simple phrase "Kurdistan Region" is the WP:COMMONNAME for the entity.  — Amakuru (talk) 21:20, 14 September 2019 (UTC)

Official Languages

Independent country now?

Recent edits by user @Modazadi5: seem to have made Kurdistan an independent country, established a central bank and currency, moved the capital, etc. I for one wasn't aware of these developments, nor are there reliable sources supporting any of that. I propose to revert all these edits back to the pre-Feb 6 state, but wanted to discuss first before making such a wholesale reversion. Views? --DoubleGrazing (talk) 08:33, 7 February 2021 (UTC)

Area

The total area of Kurdistan Region is: 46,860.735 sq. km

Because:

Climate - missing Köppen classification

In the climate section, the Mediterranean influence on the climate (dry summers) is not directly mentioned (though it is on the page for Erbil, whose climate data table is used here), and the Köppen classification (which I believe is BShCsa typically, and a matter of routine calculation) is not given at all, although this may be because this is the Kurdistan Region page, and such a wide area cannot have a homogenic climate. Outdated data

All the data on the economy, HDI and Gini factors seem to be from 2015 and 2014. Is there a more modern source on the region's economy? Silveratractic (talk) 18:34, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

You forget zakho and other things

Zakho is also a Governorate actually duhok governor ali tater couple days ago said that batel is from now on part of zakho governorate and about Disputed territories you forget tal afar sinjar mandali badrah and mosul 185.187.76.11 (talk) 17:29, 24 February 2024 (UTC)

Climate classification
