Which barrier?

I agree that from the Edo onward, Kanto is the region east of the Hakone checkpoint. My question is about earlier periods. The Japanese article lists the Fuwa barrier as the dividing point in the Heian. Also, the Japanese article on Usui Tōge mentions the Sakamoto barrier. The reason I looked in that article is that I thought there was something called the Usui Checkpoint. Does anyone have specifics? Fg2 06:01, Apr 5, 2005 (UTC)

"Watershed moment"?

Doesn't the term "watershed moment" imply that things were tending in one direction but then suddenly reversed course? How is the Great Kanto Earthquake a watershed moment under that definition. Wouldn't a term like "crisis" or "trying time" or some such be better suited? -- Exitmoose 08:46, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Question

I'm wondering why Kanto Plain redirects to the Kanto Region article. Anyone know? "Kanto Region" is a geo-political designation, while "Kanto Plain" seems to me to be a geo-topographical designation. In this situation, there are overlaps, I realize, but I think the difference is still worth noting. RNavigator (talk) 16:40, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Region should be capitalized

Region should be capitalized because its a title of a place. All words that are four or more letters long should be captialized in a title except three letter or less wors like the or of unless The is at the beginning.

In Popular Culture

Can we please delete the "in popular culture" section of this page? As its stands, it is just as list of anime which are set in this area. The vast majority of anime and other modern day Japanese serials take place in this region, that doesn't mean we have to list all of them here.DeliciousMeatz (talk) 03:36, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

Contradictory population

Kantō region article lists a population of 42,607,376 while Greater Tokyo Area, which includes all of Kantō region plus another prefecture, just lists 37,883,000 inhabitants. The part can't contain more inhabitants that the whole. Something should be checked and fixed, or at least it should be explained better.--Pere prlpz (talk) 11:02, 23 August 2015 (UTC)

"Second largest sub-national economy"

The first paragraph states that "Kanto is the second largest sub-national economy in the world." But there is no source listed, and the internal link goes to a list of country subdivisions by GDP, which gives the Tokyo prefecture (instead of Kanto), and puts it in 9th place (instead of second). What's going on? (I'd love to see the true list of sub-national economies, if one exists!)
