Proposed changes edit

  • Specific text to be added or removed: Please see the article if it still has issues.
  • Reason for the change: I am new to Wikipedia and made edits before disclosing a COI. I am a former student of Dr. Choi and I am not getting paid to edit this article. There are multiple problems on the article as you can see. Firstly, I edited the article so it summarizes existing information about Dr. Choi, instead of the article looking like a resume promoting Dr. Choi. Secondly, I disclosed a COI as suggested. Lastly, I shortened the list of publications to only show the major ones. If these changes do not resolve the issues, please let me know what I can do to improve this article without violating Wikipedia policies. Thank you in advance and your help will be greatly appreciated.

Not done: Thank you for taking care to now follow Wikipedia's COI guidelines. Your improvements are appreciated, but the article still has issues that warrant the maintenance tags at the top, so I am marking this request as "not done". See WP:RESUME for more information (that's an essay, not formal policy, but one that broadly reflects community consensus). The bulk of sources for a Wikipedia article need to be non-primary coverage (see WP:PSTS); in this context, simply citing every single peer-reviewed article Choi is an author of is functionally use of primary resources. There do appear to be reliable, independent sources that cover Choi's research (e.g. here; sources in English and Korean are acceptable), and those should be used more extensively. Making changes to this effect will very likely mean removing some of the information that is in the article right now; Wikipedia articles should avoid extensive summariing of, for example, a given study, unless other reliable, secondary sources (including other peer-reviewed studies, news articles, etc.) also go into detail about the study. As of now, it is still somewhat difficult to discern this article from something that one would write if they were trying to introduce Choi at an academic conference or lecture: it attempts to list all his research accomplishments, their impact, etc. But that is not the standard Wikipedia uses. You are more than welcome to open another request with specific proposed edits to improve the article, and I am happy to work with you in their implementation.
