I wonder if the list of Jersey Jurats could be moved to the new page 'Judiciary of Jersey (list)', and expanded to include past Jurats of Jersey?Andrew Le Sueur (talk) 15:49, 6 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

RfC on best target for "Jurat" edit

Should the article namespace "jurat" point to the article on office holders in the Channel Islands, or should it point to the article on the common legal document which forms part of an affidavit? A loose necktie (talk) 21:45, 23 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • Several years ago this article was changed from the latter to the former with no discussion (that I could find). It does seem that a large number of internal Wikipedia links are aimed at the article about the office holders in Jersey and Guernsey, but this appears to be a rather obscure meaning of the term "jurat" and even a very brief search of sources for "jurat" finds overwhelming reference to the legal document, not the British office holders. If we want our readers to be able to type "jurat" into a Wikipedia search box and have their intended subject appear, then it looks to me like "jurat" needs to be adjusted to meet this (I do not think that the preponderance of internal Wikipedia links has bearing on the public's expectations for search terms, but maybe I am wrong on this). What do others think? A loose necktie (talk) 21:55, 23 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
