Talk:July 2019 Ethiopian Jews protest in Israel

@OxonAlex: Could you explain how my copy editing can be unsourced? The meaning of the paragraph was unchanged and I did not remove the refs. Thanks Abrostople (talk) 15:27, 5 July 2019 (UTC)

My reading of the diff at the time was that the content was changed whilst the source remained the same, and could have been a POV edit on a controversial subject. This was probably not the correct reading of the edits, and was my mistake.

Apologies, ~~ OxonAlex - talk 15:33, 5 July 2019 (UTC)

CE tagsEdit

First off, thank you for making this article; it’s obviously a notable event. As page watchers have likely noticed, I tagged the article page due to concerns regarding the prose, especially in terms of grammar. There are some issues with flow and cohesion as well. As I assume one or more of the primary contributors are non-native English speakers, this is to be expected, and I’ll be happy to help clean it up when I can—- I’m on mobile now, and it’s difficult to make any significant changes on that platform. The tags are just to let other volunteers know there are issues to fix - didn’t want you guys to think I was just drive-by tagging. Symmachus Auxiliarus (talk) 07:56, 9 July 2019 (UTC) I fixed a lot of the issues so I thought the article deserves this. Havradim (talk) 16:40, 9 July 2019 (UTC)

  •   New enough, long enough, within policy (neutral, cited, no copyvios), all 4 hooks (inc. ALT3) are short enough, image is free but not particularly interesting, it looks as though QPQ not necessary here. I recommend ALT4 below which is kind of strange and interesting:
  •   Could we have a review of ALT4? That qualifies as a "hook", while the others read like summaries of the article. Yoninah (talk) 21:55, 23 July 2019 (UTC)
  •   OK, I'll step in. ALT4 hook ref verified and cited inline. Good job, Havradim! Rest of review per your review. ALT4 good to go. Yoninah (talk) 23:44, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
  •   Hold on. There is close paraphrasing from the sources that needs to be rewritten in your own words:
  • Source: Police used riot dispersal methods, including tear gas and stun grenades. In the northern city of Kiryat Ata, over a thousand marched on the Zevulun police station
  • Article: Police used riot dispersal methods, including tear gas and stun grenades. In the northern city of Kiryat Ata, over a thousand people marched on the Zevulun police station
  •   Done
  • Source: Emergency services said 50 people had received medical treatment, including protesters, police and bystanders stuck in traffic.
  • Article: Emergency services said 83 people had received medical treatment, including protesters, police and bystanders stuck in traffic. (Note: the source says 50, the article says 83)
  •   Done
  • Source: Some 200 demonstrators in Afula blocked traffic on one of the northern city's main streets. Meanwhile, major roads in several cities, including Tel Aviv and Haifa, were blocked by demonstrators burning tires.

  • Thanks for pointing all this out Yoninah. Please let me know if there are any more outstanding issues. Havradim (talk) 04:43, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
  •   Thank you. No more close paraphrasing seen. Restoring tick for ALT4. Yoninah (talk) 22:24, 12 August 2019 (UTC)
