Image:PCElogo.PNG is being used on this article. Malditas sean las guerras y los canallas que las hacen

The original sentence uttered by Julio Anguita when he learnt about his son's death is the title of this section. It's been translated here as "God dam the wars and the scoundrels that support them" but no god of any kind is mentioned at all in the original. --37.35.185.168 (talk) 13:45, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

A more accurate translation can be found here but I'd remove the first "the" because here "las guerras" refers to "wars" in general.--37.35.185.168 (talk) 14:02, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

Seems fair (about the 'god' bit and the 'the'), although the Spanish original uses the verb hacen instead of apoyan, so "wage" rather than "support" seems to be a better translation, in my opinion.--Asqueladd (talk) 20:32, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

I would say "Damned be all wars, and the scoundrels who wage them" would be a more fitting approach, as it preserves the original tone; "damn wars" is more akin to "malditas guerras" rather than to "malditas sean las guerras". Eriorguez (talk) 17:37, 20 May 2020 (UTC)

Elegies

@Alsoriano97: What's the criteria for including "elegies"? Are they important anyways? Other elegies expressed by other politicians have been highlighted ([1][2][3][4]) as well as somewhat (politically) insightful obituaries have been published [5][6], to name a few. Yet I am not sure the idea of a compilation of elegies is fully encyclopaedic (going further than possibly a note).--Asqueladd (talk) 20:02, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

@Asqueladd:. Thanks for your message. I chose the President of the Government, the leader of Podemos and the Second Vice President, and the Cuban President for the position they hold. From conservative leaders in the way of showing that he was respected not only by left-wing politicians. Also, being a free article, you can add or remove any type of information justifiably.Alsoriano97 (talk) 21:29, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

Yet one can wonder why the leader of Podemos and not the one of United Left or the PCE, for example. In any case, in my view, the delivery of the idea is haphazard as it is now (most critically because fine words have been dedicated to the man by many people), and it offers little value, as the balance is not weighted/filtered with sources with any kind of perspective (it arguably contravenes WP:BALASP).--Asqueladd (talk) 21:50, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
