"Openly Christian" ..... is being a Christian on a par with being gay?

Openly, in that he "wears it on his sleeve", so to speak. Most broadcasters in the UK keep their religious views (if any) pretty much to themselves. Jeremy Vine is an exception, which I thought worth mentioning. --Bonalaw 12:39, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

In spite of the many times Italian words and names appear on Eggheads, he has never bothered to learn the most elementary rules of pronouncing Italian, such as that "chi" is not pronounced like "she", or that there is no canine in "Badoglio". Seadowns (talk) 15:32, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

Crap references section

Election coverage

The comment added about his appearance on BBC1 on the night of the council elections has been removed from someone on a BBC IP number. Marriage

I noticed the deletion of a reference to a previous marriage. I don't know anything about this but a quick check shows

I have searched FreeBMD for any marriage of a Vine, between 1988 and 1992 (no records available from 1993) but there are no results. But as there are no records of ANY Vine after 1988, I suspect these are not available for some reason. Martinevans123 (talk) 12:29, 11 October 2021 (UTC)

He takes callers, but only sparingly?

This claim made in the article doesn't really reflect what happens on air. I checked the reference given, and it's an article published before Vine took over the slot, on his plans for the show. Daily Mail style of tabloid journalism - reference

The reference does not make any comment about his broadcasting style - it merely documents one particular incident in which his radio show discussed the outlook of tabloid newspapers.

His birth is registered in Surrey Mid Eastern registraion district, so English birth (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QVWZ-CPRQ). His parents were married in 1964 also in Surrey (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QV67-TG22). Brother Tim Vine also born in Surrey (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QVWQ-6WZX) and sister Sonya also born in Surrey (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QVW6-35M2)

This source says: "They grew up in Northey Avenue, Cheam, and the boys went to Lynton Prep in Ewell and Aberdour School in Burgh Heath before going on to Epsom College." So suspect he was born in the maternity hospital in Epsom, but his home was in Cheam. Note the Tim Vine article says Tim was born in Cheam. Basketball career break

Just in case anyone is wondering about the surprising flurry of activity today and resulting review lock, it's all explained by this helpful edit which, we were informed by Vine on his lunchtime show, had been made as a deliberate prank by his BBC research team to test "how reliable Wikipedia is". Needless to say the material lasted a full week without being challenged, until some Wiki listeners, tipped off by JV himself, rapidly jumped in to expunge it. One immediately wonders what other gems the BBC (City of London IP 132.185.160.96) has been responsible for. Vandalism that poses as text, without expletives or obvious nonsense characters, is often a problem: even if one is watching an article, unless one is very familiar with the article subject matter, it's often a chore too far to investigate such edits by checking refs and doing google searches etc. Many times edits have made me think, 'I hope someone else looks into that because I can't be bothered...'. Controversies

It seems unfair for Vine to be implicated in the Samira Ahmed case. Sausage Rolls record debunked on air by Jeremy Vine

The phrase "Vine also holds the Guinness World Record for eating the greatest number of sausage rolls in 60 seconds" has been debunked as untrue live on air just now on Radio 2.
