Books edit

The Moose That Roared: The Story of Jay Ward, Bill Scott, a Flying Squirrel, and a Talking Moose

I'm parking this here until I can research if Books is an appropriate section title. "References" doesn't really seem appropriate since it wasn't really used in writing the article, as far as I know, anyway. Spalding 23:57, Mar 21, 2005 (UTC)

You could create a section titled "Further reading" ... Lawikitejana 23:16, 22 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Family? edit

A paragraph late in the article says that a business or two was run by "his family," but we get no information on them at all. Was he married, did he have kids, are we talking siblings and parents, or what?

Also, if you check "What links here" on the main article page, you'll see that there's a link from a museum in Marshall, Texas, that houses the "Ramona and Jay Ward" masks collection; do we know whether it truly is the same Jay Ward? I came to this article to see if there was a Ramona in his family, as that might give a clue, but can't find out from here. Lawikitejana 23:16, 22 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Durward Kirby edit

Perhaps someone should add information about the most-famous potential lawsuit, that of Durward Kirby and the Kerwood Derby. WilliamSommerwerck (talk) 16:05, 20 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Still Alive edit

Jay Ward is still alive! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.86.166.26 (talk) 05:54, 12 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

OK. So who's interred in hiis grave? Bustter (talk) 09:56, 14 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Good question. Last night I was astonished to see "Jay Ward" listed as Art Department Manager, and Production Manager of the (animated) end titles, of Pixar's production "Ratatouille" (2007). My first thought... "Wow! He must be at least in his nineties by now... and still at it?!" Perhaps Wikipedia needs another "Jay Ward" article to disambiguate... Jay Ward also worked for Pixar/Disney as Character Director for "Cars", and his involvement in character development and mentoring of character animators to develop characters consistent with the animated film's 'Route 66' theme is documented is various making of video segments that were run as trailers on the Disney channel and presumable may be included in the special features of some Cars DVD home video edition. 204.94.39.11 (talk) 20:06, 17 August 2016 (UTC)designed4use.orgReply

Ward is quite a common surname. I have known a couple of "J" Ward's who made no animations. A credit or byline is no proof they are the same person. Rags (talk) 22:42, 16 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

– no clear WP:PRIMARYTOPIC per page views [1] Joeykai (talk) 15:45, 1 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose. Jay Ward the animator was very famous in his day, many would still recognize Rocky and Bullwinkle/George of the Jungle/Mr. Peabody & Sherman. The NFL player on the other hand debuted literally three weeks ago. And while he is not a bad player, there's no real indication he will be especially notable. I'm willing to revisit later, but I think per current pageviews, we should leave it alone. --Quiz shows 22:52, 1 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose per Quiz shows. Until the NFL player shows evidence of long-term significance, I think it's probably too soon to say he's a legitimate challenger to WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Nohomersryan (talk) 21:01, 7 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose, as the current page views seem good enough to leave this as a primary topic for now. Adumbrativus (talk) 01:21, 9 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
