Talk:Indian Navy amphibious vessel acquisition project

Issues edit

This article needs help. The heading is a generic one, "Multi-Role Support Vessel", where one might think that such a specific vessel exists, and this is going to discuss that vessel. But instead, it appears to be a type of vessel being sought in an acquisition program, specifically by the Indian Navy. For starters, the title should be changed, among some of the other issues I noted. - theWOLFchild 05:01, 7 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

What do you suggest? We already have an article on a topic like this: Indian MRCA competition. Something on those lines? Anir1uph | talk | contrib 12:30, 7 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
To start, I would suggest changing the name. That involves a page move (we don't just copy & paste). I am happy to do once we have a new name for the article. - theWOLFchild 21:19, 7 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
I am aware of the page-move and page-history conservation rules :) We can simply use Indian MRCA competition as a template and rename the page to Indian Multi-Role Support Vessel or Indian Multi-Role Support Vessel competition. Anir1uph | talk | contrib 22:52, 7 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
How about Indian Navy MRSV Selection Program ? - theWOLFchild 01:23, 9 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
MRSV is not a highly searched term, not does it make it clear what the article is about. But if you are satisfied with it, then please make the page move. I have no problems either way. Anir1uph | talk | contrib 02:28, 9 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
We could go with Indian Navy Multi-Role Support Vessel Selection Program, if you don't think it's too long. - theWOLFchild 09:42, 9 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Done. Anir1uph | talk | contrib 12:57, 9 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Don't be surprised if someone complains about "programme vs. program". But I'm fine with it. Thanks. - theWOLFchild 01:11, 10 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

One cannot complain about that. It is wiki-policy to have articles their local form of English. See Indian English. Any other issues?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Anir1uph (talkcontribs) 02:08:37, 10 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Like I said, I'm fine with it. - theWOLFchild 17:51, 10 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
So, any more issues? Anir1uph | talk | contrib 18:34, 10 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
If you're referring to the new title (with the local variant on spelling), then for the third time, I'm fine with it. As far as anything else related to the article, well I would have to go over the content again when I have some time. At a glance, I saw that it might need some improving. I see that the editor who created this page and added a lot of the original content has been indef'd. I also see you have since been recently contributing. I don't know if you have any big plans for this page, but if you do, I'm happy to help. On a side note, I filed this, at WP:AN, in regards to the old title. Cheers - theWOLFchild 19:07, 10 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
I was asking if you have any other issues as you had placed a "multiple issues" tag on the article, and i assumed you had, well, multiple issues to discuss. But since there aren't any, i have now removed that tag. As per the topic at AN, i have redirected the only article linking to the old title to the new title, so you may use that page for writing a general article. I am no going to devote much time on this article, as it has enough info already, but will update it from time to time. Thanks! :) Anir1uph | talk | contrib 21:55, 10 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Well, like I said... at a glance I had noticed a few issues, other than the title, and generally felt the article could use some improvement - hence the reason I placed the tag. I don't care if the tag is removed, it's not a big deal. The article is low priority for me, but when I have some time, I will give it some attention. If you're going to pop in from "time to time" as well, then I'm sure we'll have it fixed up sooner or later. Take care & Cheers - theWOLFchild 01:25, 11 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Move edit

@Anir1uph: - You didn't move the talk page. I'm gonna be out for a few hours, can you take care of it? Thanks - theWOLFchild 01:59, 11 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

I don't understand - the talk page is moved automatically when the article is moved. See Talk:Multi-Role Support Vessel. Anir1uph | talk | contrib 02:14, 11 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Change in the tender edit

The old reports were that India will buy a foreign design and then build the design at HSL. Those designs were Frech Mistral, Spain's Juan Carlos, etc

The latest reports though sound different. The contracts are given to Private companies now, and they have chosen to tie up with some Foreign companies. Nowhere does it mention that they are going to buy the foreign design. The article indicates more towards a new design which will be designed by the Private players with consultation with thier Foreign partners. So any Foreign Class of vessel can be omitted from this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.62.183.50 (talk) 07:35, 13 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

I do not agree with you. The new info only narrows down the list of foreign designers from the earlier six to the present three; it does not say that newly designed ships will be constructed. Anir1uph | talk | contrib 08:09, 13 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

About removing old information edit

I have removed the information regarding the last contenders and criteria for selection from the history section. As these information were old and not fit in the current page content.
