Article needs a lot of work edit

This article and the article for CBC Television needs A LOT of work! Sure the article for Canadian Broadcasting Corporation is chalk full of info but the articles for the specifics on both televison networks despretly needs a lot of work done on them both! MusiMax 23:55, 14 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

24-hour programming edit

I recall reading that CBC English television was moving this season to twenty-four-hour operation, after four decades of signing off overnight. Does anyone know if the same will apply to the French service?

As an aside, since the national network sign-off is on its way out at least on the English side, it might be interesting to have a comparison of the wording of the French- and English-language sign-on/off messages. (I have several instances of both, but my French is not good enough to transcribe that version.) The standardized national sign-offs were introduced around 1994, replacing local sign-offs at most if not all production centres, and they say slightly different things (for example, the French version talks about "le plus vaste réseau de télévision au pays", whereas the English version calls it "a uniquely Canadian television network"). 121a0012 19:14, 29 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Radio-Canada re-directs here?!? edit

Surely Radio-Canada is the French-language TV and radio operations- not just the main TV channel (La Télévision de Radio-Canada). Maybe a new article needs to be created so that the CBC article focuses just on the English operations and a Radio-Canada (TV, radio, internet) article ? 81.129.221.15 21:24, 25 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • To clarify things with another question. Are you talking about how Radio-Canada redirects to Canadian Broadcasting Corporation? Radio-Canada does not redirects to SRC Television. Strangely, typing CBC in French Wikipedia appears to provide a list. You may be right on the Anglophone bias. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.232.206.206 (talk) 03:06, 27 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Logos edit

As per WP:FURG, I have commented out the entire section because Wikipedia generally discourages logo use in a gallery. No offense to anyone, but the rules are the rules. --AEMoreira042281 (talk) 19:09, 18 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Television Stations#Weigh-in from Wikimedia General Counsel on logos for the official word on logo usage -- officially, how they can be used does not matter and can belong, as long as they are part of the context, and as long as each logo is licensed and has a FUR. -- azumanga (talk) 02:42, 1 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Major revision of page edit

I wanted to add some more stuff to this page as , compared to the CBC Television article, loos sparse and not enough information on programming. Neasden Villa (talk) 15:29, 11 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Article needs major revisions edit

Two major revisions are needed for this article. First, the network no longer broadcasts over-the-air in all ten Canadian provinces since the network no longer has transmitters in Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland & Labrador. Second, all of the network's owned-and-operated broadcast in digital and in HD and should be listed in the High-Definition Television section.Ckhalil22 (talk) 02:18, 25 August 2014 (UTC)ckhalil22 22:18 24 August 2014Reply

Why was this article moved without discussion? edit

The article was moved from "Ici Radio-Canada" to "ICI Radio-Canada" without discussion. It should be moved back: Ici Radio-Canada is the correct title. "Ici" is not an acronym - it means "here" or "this is" in French. Per WP:TRADEMARK, Wikipedia uses standard capitalization, not corporate stylization. The company, SRC, may want to use all-caps as part of its corporate branding, but it is not Wikipedia style to do so. The corporate style is indicated in the lead paragraph, but otherwise, standard capitalization is the rule that we follow. Ground Zero | t 18:10, 30 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Note:the editor has all moved Ici RDI and Ici Explora, but not Ici Radio-Canada Première or Ici Musique. Also, there was an earlier discussion at Talk:ICI Explora about the corporate styling being to put both words all in caps, so now we really have a mess. This is a good reason to discuss moves before making them. Ground Zero | t 18:31, 30 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
Should not have been moved. Is this a request to move it back? Walter Görlitz (talk) 23:28, 30 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
User:ClassicOnAStick acknowledged on my talk page that the articles were moved in error, so I have asked him/her to move them back, and restore the templates that he changed. Ground Zero | t 03:36, 31 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
I have reverted all of my mistakes, my apology to all.
