Home Alone 5? edit

Home Alone 5 in the works - Can you back this up? 20:39, 6 April 2007‎ User:82.35.51.7

Rewrite needed edit

I stumbled on this page from browsing RCs... I don't know where to begin. IMO this article needs to be completely rewritten (maybe not the infobox), unfortunately I haven't actually seen the film so that largely rules me out. Any volunteers? Home Alone 5? edit

I keep seeing Home Alone 5 coming up. That is going to happen as much as Harry Potter 8. Unless you can back this up stop posting it.

Title edit

I changed the Title to Home Alone 4: Taking back the House. Hope its okay. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bottomlivefan95 (talkcontribs) 11:17, 28 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Um, the movie is actually called "Home Alone 4" without the subtitle. The DVD case and commercials titled it as "Home Alone: Taking Back the House" without the "4" in the title. Since the movie itself never used the subtitle, it should just be "Home Alone 4" with the subtitle being mentioned as what the DVD case and commercials called it. 71.180.209.37 (talk) 18:09, 23 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have been checking online retailers and as far as I can gather the subtitle, without the number 4, is only used in the United States and Canada. Elsewhere the film is released as Home Alone 4. Tk420 (talk) 17:23, 22 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Marv? edit

That can't be Marv because... 1. Harry was the one who weared the cap 2. I doubt Marv could ever get a date 3. Marv is too dumb to make a plan like that

Reasons 1. They got confused because it's been awhile since Harry and Marv were the main enemies —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.123.249.135 (talk) 00:33, 31 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Have you actually seen the movie? Here are my answers after watched it thousands of times. 1. Marv is good enough to be Harry's 'apprentice' or 'partner in crime', as such, they would wear similar clothes after a while. And French Stewart's Marv is (most likely) Daniel Stern's Marv because Harry is mentioned by Vera. 2. Who cares? 3. It wasn't Marv's plan, it was Molly's.

Why would they make a Home Alone 4 if they were confused? And it's wore, not weared. Farslayer (talk) 06:48, 21 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I say that it doesn't matter since this movie is out of continuity with the first two. It wasn't funny and never should've been made. 71.180.209.37 (talk) 18:11, 23 December 2008 (UTC) this is not a forum. according to what i have read however daniel stern was asked to play marv but turned it down. (it is listed on this article) he is referred to as marv in the movie anyway.84.212.73.96 (talk) 19:00, 25 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Great line edit

No one ever delete the line "This movie has been widely criticized for ruining the Home Alone series." it totally made my day. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.235.110.146 (talk) 16:33, 4 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Not a stub. edit

This article is rated as Stub-Class, but is clearly a full article. It should be re-rated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.86.184.50 (talk) 18:31, 23 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

I changed it to Start-class. Erik (talk | contribs) 18:49, 23 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

budget is missing from the side edit

someone should add it to the article and also to the article of the next movie.(i do not have that kind of knowledge.)84.212.73.96 (talk) 19:03, 25 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

WP:SYN, etc. edit

"The film received largely negative reviews, and is considered the worst film in the franchise."

The sources cited for this do not summarize what critics in general thought of the film, let alone that it is considered the worst.

Further, IMDb is not an usable source for reviews (either for their random selection of off-site links, reviews written by users or the user scores). The third source seems to be a blog. Commonsensemedia is not a general review site, focused instead on appropriateness for kids. - SummerPhDv2.0 04:36, 5 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

And we're back. "The film was poorly received by film critics."
Yes, you have cites for several reviews which you characterize as poor. The statement you have repeatedly restored does not say "Here are a few reviews that, IMO, say it sucked." The statement you are restoring says that -- taken as a whole -- the general consensus of film critics is that the film was poor.
Combining a handful of reviews, deciding they represent critics in general AND that the reviews represent poor reception is clearly synthesis: combining material from two or more sources to support a claim that none of the sources make on their own.
If you would like to include the claim that the film was poorly received by critics, find a reliable source that actually says that and cite it. - SummerPhDv2.0 01:29, 22 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Murchins/Merchants edit

Per IMDb, the name is "Merchants", not "Murchins". While IMDb is indirectly user edited, the credits are usually pretty good. Additionally, "Merchants" is a reasonably common name. As I am unaware of anything showing "Murchins" I will need a source from anyone trying to change this. - SummerPhDv2.0 00:27, 7 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Home Alone 4 seems to be the first movie that credits Marv with his last name - as Marv Merchants. In the first movie, his surname was Murchens (sources: script and novelization) and in the second movie, his last name was Murchins (source: newspaper seen in the movie) --RabbitFromMars (talk) 20:03, 29 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
