Article future edit

I'm thinking we should move this article to Team High Road and improve the prose to talk about different sponsors over time and why T-Mobile pulled out. One thing is for sure, may of the riders and the team management in 2007 is the same as what it will be in 2008 so I don't think a new article is appropriate. It is a clear continuation of the 2007 team, SeveroTC 16:15, 5 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I agree. In this case it's just the sponsor dropping out. Drunt (talk) 23:11, 5 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

The only thing that's stopping me move it is that a new sponsor could take over, then it would need to be moved again! SeveroTC 23:17, 5 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Even if/when a new sponsor takes over, having Team High Road redirect to the new name will be useful for anyone who stumble over the name in some old cycling news related article.--Per Abrahamsen (talk) 13:04, 6 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

there is a huge difference between the 2007 team and who is riding and associated with the team today, it is not "a clear continuation of the 2007 team". i cite velonews.com page on team high road as stating "Not much is left of the T-Mobile squad that existed at the end of 2006. General manager Bob Stapleton has retained only 20 percent of the riders and staff, introduced the most stringent anti-doping program in the ProTour". the fact that Bob Stapleton created high road sports around 2005, and took command of t-mobile from the old regime, signify's a break from the old way's not a continuation. This team should largely not be linked to the past sins of t-mobile, and should focus on the future of the sport, instead of muddying a clean team with perceived past ties to doping, all of which have been more than eradicated. i am going to erect a couple of pages and create a disambiguation page to clear up this mess. one with the t-mobile history, which will include the sponsorship change and change in Managers, with a link to high road at the end,it is basically the present page up until the end where it says = Team highroad=, after the doping allegations. as well as including the womens team in the diambiguation link, or simply combining the two teams as is done on the team high road website. While you may disagree with these changes, i have personally spoke with bob stapleton about the team high road wikipedia page, and we both agree that it is in fact in a state of error and needs to be changed to reflect the statements made above, and the identity of the team today. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cleansport (talkcontribs) 19:59, 26 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Pretending that Columbia (via High Road) is not a continuation of T-Mobile is misleading. There was no break - those that had contracts running through the period had them honoured, sponsors had to pay severance money under the terms of their contracts if they wanted to disassociate themselves with High Road and the UCI did not issue a new ProTour licence. I appreciate you wish to contribute to Wikipedia, but I cannot see any consensus for your proposed actions. That consensus needs to be built here: quite frankly Bob Stapleton's view cannot be taken into account as he understandably has a clear bias (namely, to disassociate his business with T-Mobile doping). This would be revisionism. From reading your user page, it would appear you also have a conflict of interest. As such, I would suggest when making large changes, you discuss them here first, to ensure the article retains a neutral point of view. SeveroTC 12:25, 11 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

It is obvious from the changes that have been made that severo is completely wrong and does not want to keep this page nuetral, but intends to harm the future of the sport and this team which has undertaken new management and direction. this will become more evident when the changes of the past year and the 2010 squad is input to this page that you will see that severos claims carry no weight. and it is he who has the conflict of interest, as he aims to harm the future of the team.

However at this moment the main issue is The 2006-2007 Doping scandals section. It has many problems. 1. The very years that it implies are misleading as most of the activity was prior to 2006, and there was only one doping case in 2007. 2. It contains emotionally misleading language such as "In the most controversial scandal since the 1998 tour, thirteen riders were expelled from the 2006 Tour de France stemming from a Spanish doping scandal" which is indirectly referring to the operacion puerto scandal, which has its own wikipedia page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operación_Puerto_doping_case . While some mentioning is merited as a part of the team history, the majority of this content should be moved to the operacion puerto page, or at least reatilted Operacion Puerto, and to have the corresponding dates included. it is appalling that it is only referred to as a side affair to the T-Mobile scandal, when in fact it was THE Scandal that this section refers to. To have it remain as it is is detrimental to the team and against wikipedias standards and rules.

I will respect wikipedia and its editors and wait for a reply before cleaning up this page and moving this section to where it is more appropriate.[User:Cleansport|Cleansport] —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cleansport (talkcontribs) 08:52, 26 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

That section reads as a fair summary of the team's main events of interest during those years. The incidents around it are suitably wikilinked, and the tone is suitably balanced and formal. Very few articles in Wikipedia are beyond improvement with well written, disinterested, referenced material, and if you believe that you can improve the article, you are free to try to. What you are not free to do is to edit to promote a personal interest, to chuck around wild accusations, or to whitewash history. Kevin McE (talk) 18:53, 28 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:T-Mobile 2006 team.jpg edit

Image:T-Mobile 2006 team.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Team Colombia edit

another name, another page move - timing of page move - now or July 5?--Matilda talk 18:47, 16 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Suggest moving to HTC-Highroad edit

This is the name I most commonly see in race reports and articles, etc. I know I'm the one who moved the article to its current title, making it seem a bit quaint that I'm going the discussion route this time, but I...just am. I dunno :p Any opposition? I know "Team High Road" used to be this team's name, and that's probably why we all thought "Team HTC-High Road" was their post-Columbia name, but it doesn't actually look to be the case. Green-eyed girl (Talk · Contribs) 03:27, 15 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yea probably should. I hope they stick with Highroad now and don't revert at any point to High Road. SeveroTC 13:02, 19 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Announcement that team has disbanded edit

Folks, this needs to be dealt with in the article: http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/htc-highroad-disbands-after-failed-sponsor-search  – ukexpat (talk) 19:06, 5 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yes, if only someone would post something like "On August 4, 2011 General Manager Bob Stapleton announced that Team HTC-Highroad are set to fold at the end of the 2011 season after failing to find a new sponsor", with an appropriate citation, at the end of the last history section, and put a sentence to the same effect at the end of the opening paragraph. We can only hope that one day such a thing will happen... Kevin McE (talk) 19:13, 5 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
No need to be snarky, I would have done it myself but I was leaving for a meeting. – ukexpat (talk) 20:13, 5 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Whooosh.... Those edits were made to the article 21 hours before you started taking editors to task over failure to mention it. Kevin McE (talk) 20:55, 5 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Not dissolved? edit

It contains a total of 29 riders, 9 physiotherapists or nurses, 9 mechanics and service persons, and has 22 partners. The team is under the management of Bob Stapleton and Rolf Aldag.

Does the team still exist? --217.227.76.94 (talk) 14:23, 13 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
