I'm tempted to speculate that Wizard of Ooze is related to Monster Blood - which was originally created by a witch, right? Enter/EscapeHorrorLand

These two sites have been killed, and now redirect to a Scholastic page. New HorrorLand table

The back cover of Ghost Dog is on Amazon.com, and it shows that a lot of the entries on the old table are now redundant; for example, there is now only one tagline on the back, and no HorrorLand token. Here's a suggested new version; I've cut out anything to do with tokens and EnterHorrorLand, and also the concept of "Featured HorrorLand area" and "Main attraction," which were never all that solid for the original series either. Indeed. The third segment of Weirdo Halloween, as the midpoint in this new arc, seems to be where we meet up with the kids who have been returned to HorrorLand by the miniature Horror they were given, and we'll learn something more about what Chiller is up to. Odds are that when the seventh book comes out, it will be set entirely in HorrorLand once again, and we will learn the full truth about the nature of Jonathan Chiller and why he chose to do this. And based on the scene at the end of The Streets of Panic Park, we might be lucky enough to get another visit from the Morris siblings. Also, isn't it weird that we haven't heard about books 17 through 19 yet? It's been over four months since you found out about Weirdo Hallowe'en and The Scarecrow Walks At Midnight, Anon E. Mouse; perhaps they wised up and are better at keeping secrets. I guess Stine did mention Slappy New Year and The Wizard of Ooze, but that's not the same as having a release date. And of course, right after I write that I find R.L.'s Twitter; he says he finished TWoO on February 2nd. Lots of ooze in it, apparently. He also refers to writing a book in which 12-year-olds get hunted with crossbows (Feb. 8th). Interesting - he talks about writing Slappy New Year way back on December 10th and January 4th/6th. But apparently he wrote Little Shop of Hamsters after that. No way can I rely on Twitter to try and determine the chronology of the new books, sadly.

Token #12

This keeps on getting edited, so I want to know what's going on. What colour exactly is the twelfth token, on the back of Panic Park and Terror Tower? On my copy it's gold, but people keep on reverting it to black, and I'm left wondering if this is another thing the British editions changed (like making the Shrunken Head blue for some reason). Amazon.com's Look Inside view of SoPP's back cover makes the token look black, but the whole image is a lot darker so I wondered if it was just image quality. Same question about the message on the token - the image of the token in the SoPP Fear File just says "Fear Rules In" and there's no second half at all. 86.176.137.79 (talk) 11:11, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

Slappy New Year

SNY's gone up on Amazon and Scholastic Rights And Co-Editions, and, amazingly, the two have completely different plot synopses. At least the mistake plots on scholsatic for the first arc were just teasers, and the pages were up months before retailer entries! I'm guessing, based on that experience with the first arc, that the Scholastic Rights And Co-Editions plotline is the older one, and the Amazon.com plotline is the one we'll actually get... which is a shame, as the Scholastic version sounds much better, whereas the Amazon plot sounds like a rehash of every Slappy book ever. But we probably won't know for sure until November. By the way, they both have the same plot listed for The Wizard of Ooze, and it sounds great. ...Aw Hell. Amazon.com have updated their Weirdo Halloween and added the back cover and a few pages from the book. The tagline is: "It's the only one I've ever seen. Maybe the only one on earth". The fourth HorrorLand enemy is Madame Doom (who is actually a person, not a dummy), the fifth HorrorLand enemy is Winner Taikall. In The Wizard Of Ooze Gabriella's last name is Grant, not Smith, and I think that just about sums up my findings! Just change the book tables back! As far as I can see, the person who changed it didn't provide a reason. But these books don't have individual book pages, so there's no reason to suggest we should use a table that's less informative. The table was changed to use {{Book list}}. This allows the book list to be included on List of Goosebumps books without having two versions of the same list. Could you point me to where exactly it says that Amazon isn't a reliable source? It's been an invaluable resource for the past two years on upcoming publications in this series (more so, in fact, than Scholastic's own site, which has frequently proven erroneous), and provides accurate release dates, plot synopses, and cover art. If we can't use it as a source, I'm not clear on how we're meant to reliably source release dates and plot synopses at all, particularly when documenting upcoming books - an activity permitted under WP:FUTURE, since the upcoming books are as notable as any other listed on this page, and are indeed almost certain to exist, as indicated by their presence on marketing sites and by their discussion by the author on his verified Twitter feed. 86.173.142.76 (talk) 20:38, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

As per WP:RS#Questionable_sources: "Questionable sources are those with a poor reputation for checking the facts, or with no editorial oversight. Such sources include websites and publications expressing views that are widely acknowledged as ... promotional in nature". In the case of upcoming books WP:FUTURE says: "Individual scheduled or expected future events should only be included if the event is notable and almost certain to take place." There are no guarantees that the book will be published on those dates or even get published. A good example is Goosebumps Gold, as far as I am aware the Gold series was never published, but Amazon says it was published in February 2004. d'oh! _talk 03:28, 12 September 2010 (UTC)

Those titles that someone menioned erlier ["Home sweet horror", "Wonders of the forest" and "The last horror"]probably are not going to air at all. But I do know that the 4th hall of horrors book is called "How I quit zombie school?" and it's ging to air in September!!!!!! I found it on www.rl.stinefans.com. Merger with Revenge of the Living Dummy

The Revenge of the Living Dummy article currently contains eight entries in its "References" section. Of these, three are primary sources (Scholastic) and two are excerpts of the novel itself in various media, leaving only three entries that indicate a secondary source. Of these three, two indicate the same source (Publishers Weekly), so there are really only two secondary sources for the article. A search for further reliable, secondary sources reveals an insufficient amount of significant coverage. As such, Revenge of the Living Dummy should be merged here. • Oppose - The book passes criterion 1 of of WP:NB, and it is the first book in a notable series by a notable author. Clearly, the book is notable by Wikipedia's standards (it has received more than two mentions in secondary sources too, such as this). In addition, there is enough information presented in the article to justify keeping it; information that would clearly be unuitable for the Goosebumps HorrorLand article. As far as I can tell, this book does not pass the first criterion for notability for books. The link you provide is broken when I click on it. I also don't see any material on the Revenge of the Living Dummy article that is sourced by secondary sources and yet would be unfit for inclusion on the Goosebumps HorrorLand article. If we were to add reviews, audiobook info, translations, inspirations etc. for the books to the article, it would be far too long and detailed, and it would give undue attention to the books, considering the article is on the series. Thus, it would be unsuitable here, especially considering the article is detailed enough already.

The first criterion states "The book has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial published works appearing in sources that are independent of the book itself. This includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, other books, television documentaries and reviews", which is the case here. The Publishers Weekly ([1]) and KidsReads ([2]) review on the book are two examples of these "multiple, non-trivial published works appearing in sources that are independent of the book itself". Therefore, it passes the criterion.

To add on to what I said before, this article is in no way complete. There is still info on the background and audiobook that could still be added (such as translations and so on). I really see no reason why these articles should be merged. Fearstreetsaga (talk) 00:21, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

Two brief secondary sources are hardly enough to meet the notability criteria. Furthermore, reviews are exactly what the Goosebumps HorrorLand article needs; at the moment, it only has one secondary source itself. A merger with Revenge of the Living Dummy is quite appropriate.
