Neutrality

There are clearly a lot of people editing the page that don't like Noory. But there are also many people who do like him, but if all you had was this article, you would think he was a shallow, bumbling fool that no one liked. Whether you agree with this view or not, it is certainly not everyone's view, or even a majority. The section "Reception" is especially poor. Last I heard, coast to coast (with Noory as host) was the most listened to late night radio talk show in the US, and the 2nd most listened to radio talk show of them all, behind Rush Limbaugh. As of this edit, the show has 615 radio affiliates, which is a lot for a host that "no one likes". Over all, the article is not representative of the average or typical view of him at all. It's representative of a few people who miss Art Bell and who don't like the guy. Personally, I like them both. YouarelovedSOmuch (talk) 23:57, 24 May 2016 (UTC)

Hi, I'm fairly new as an editor. I agree with you. If Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, it doesn't matter what you think of George Noory. I find him to be neutral in his opinions on the C2C radio show. George Noory never had the 2nd most listened to talk show or even close: https://www.radiodirect.com/radios-top-talkers-for-2019/ Late night paranormal talker George Noory occupies the #11 slot, posting his highest ranking in the annual survey.

His overall number of listeners is way down from when Art Bell used to host, but there are many more alternatives now for most people since the invention of smart phones.

He is an "Armenian talk show host" whose father was born in Egypt? Yet he is of Lebanese descent? He was born in Detroit, but grew up in Armenia? George has said himself (on Coast2coastam) that his father was born in Egypt, he emigrated to the U.S. He served in the U.S.Army in WW2. In 2009, Georges father was still living in the U.S. and was suffering from Prostate Cancer.Johnwrd (talk) 03:21, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

They claimed that Christopher Colombus was an idiot or a disturbed man when he said that the Earth was round as opposed to flat. What I'm trying to point out is that the article clearly states that he 'claimed' to have traveled back in time. Since he did 'claim' to, that claim can be taken as fact. Whether or not he actually traveled through time is not the issue, it's the fact that he made the claim. (No User Info)

The final paragraph that describes Noory's show where he claims to be Dexter Monterrey does not contain any context and could be perceived as a swipe at the host. Since he did in fact make that claim, it would certainly be inappropriate to completely remove the information. I have added additional details that will hopefully eliminate any perception of POV in the article without removing information. I have been listening to George Norry for years, and I think that for the most part this quick little article about him is pretty fair and doesn't make him out to be a freak or anything (I am glad about that). That being said, I am upset that it said the quote "Noory has stood by his foreboding notion that 2012 will be a year of calamitous change on a global scale." I have never heard George say once that he believes something catastrophic is going to happen. I checked the sources for this article and couldn't find where he said that anywhere. Therefore, I respectfully removed that line.

Hosting from a cave

I thought he was serious when he said he sometimes hosts from inside a cave. He even talked about this little cricket that kept pestering him. Are you guys sure it's not true? Boy do I feel foolish if it isn't - especially since I've been listening to the show since 1992!

-I'm not sure of the exact date, but sometime in the last six months, George described the "cave" he broadcasts from when in St. Louis. Supports Gun Rights

George recently stated to a caller in the show's 4th hour (on Open Lines) (Tuesday, February 13, 2007), in response to the recent mall shooting, that he supports gun rights, more specifically, the right for citizens to carry concealed weapons. I don't know where this would appropriately placed in the article, any ideas? Jay 23:07, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Alex Jones

I changed the point that "Alex Jones, the conspiracy theorist best known for claiming that the government perpetrated the Boston Bombing, is a regular guest" to "Alex Jones, the conspiracy theorist best known for claiming that the government perpetrated the September 11th attacks, is a regular guest" because he was well-known as a 9-11 truther for over 10 years before becoming a Boston Bombing truther, and therefore it is more relevant, and more likely to serve as an identifying piece of information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.193.238.155 (talk) 17:15, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

George Norry politics & edit warring by a declared sockpuppet editor

An edit with a reliable cited source was made that George Norry was politically conservative among other radio talk show hosts listed. An editor now blocked for using 2 sock puppet (admitting using a VPN to hide their isp) (NowThatsMoreLikeItMrWayne & Howard Hawks Survives) created a third new profile (JulianAssange4President) blocked for not complying with Wikipedia's username policy now changed to (IWantToGoHomeNow) has been engaging in an edit warring to remove the word conservative without any citation other than doing their own research or explanation. The same sock puppet editor also unsuccessfully tried to block any new edits made to this page for the same reason.

Although editor User:S0091 has reverted my edit based on their claim that the source was weak but yet still reliable, as well as using a 14 year old article (dated in 2010) by The Atlantic of George Noory's politics as being undetermined at that time in 2010. Much has changed politically in the last 14 years as the cited source by the Seattle Post Alley is recent dated Sept 2023. Whether User:S0091 believes this recent source is a weak source or not, it is not on a list of unreliable sources so it should be respected otherwise.

I'm Not going to engage in an edit warring with User User:S0091 like the sock puppet with 3 recent blocked profiles (NowThatsMoreLikeItMrWayne, Howard Hawks Survives, JulianAssange4President) now using a new name "IWantToGoHomeNow" has been habitually doing with me for unknown reasons, so will take this to the talk page for additional Wikipedia editors to discuss. Is the edit being removed for personal or business relations reasons by someone who is related?

Although I have not started a profile to sign my edits, I am in no ways attempting to hide my ISP number unlike the declared sock puppet editor who has been removing my edits now under their 4th profile name, admitting on their talk page of using a VPN to hide their ISP when making edits for one of their previous blocked sock puppet profiles. 68.97.34.153 (talk) 23:09, 12 January 2024 (UTC)

Hi IP, I came across this article while researching the sock (see the SPI investigations I have filed) and happen to agree with the removal which is why restored it but for different reasons. I am not asserting the source in question is unreliable. It is reliable in so far as supporting Nick Licata described Noor as a "conservative commentator". However, I am asserting commentary by a local Seattle politician published in local Seattle publication is not a "significant view" per WP:NPOV so is WP:UNDUE and should not be stated as fact in Wikipedia's voice. In addition to the sources cited in the article, I checked Google News and ProQuest to see if any major mainstream publications have referred to him as a conservative but did not find any, with the only source that broached his personal political leanings was The Atlantic which described him as a person of "indeterminate politics". Do double check me and if you find major mainstream sources that show Noor being consistently described as a conservative please present them. S0091 (talk) 17:39, 14 January 2024 (UTC)

How much research did you really do if you can't even spell his name right?

Noory was always conservative leaning, obvious to anyone even prior to Trump, but in the last eight years has become a raging MAGA. It's clear from a wide review that he is included in the grouping of conservative talk-radio hosts, that he is personally conservative, and that he attracts a conservative audience. He may personally protest the label but so what. He'd lose half his audience if he didn't deny it.

• Propublica [1] includes him among a review of "several of the most-listened-to conservative hosts"
• RationalWiki, which we can't use as a source but is reliable, clearly calls him out for moving the show to the right-wing. [2]
• NYT, includes him among conspiracy mongers without actually stating everyone in their callout is also right-wing. [3]
• CounterPunch, a meh on WP:RSN calls him conservative. [4]

And then you have all the stations that subscribe to his syndication, overwhelmingly right-wing

• [6] am 550 west texas "conservative voices you trust"
• [7] "Nebraska AM Station Drops Country for Conservative Talk"

You might not or might use one or two these as sourcing in the main article, but they're good enough to prove the point on the talk page that what was said in the removed reference was valid. The removed reference might not be the best source, but it is a source, and what it claims is the mainstream POV.

I have real problems when someone comes along, doesn't actually have knowledge of the issue, demonstrates their poor quality of research, and then restores a POV deletion by a banned editor. SchmuckyTheCat (talk) 07:25, 17 January 2024 (UTC)
