Don's 96th Foot

edit

The link 96th Regiment of Foot leads in fact to the 97th Queen's Own Germans (former Stuart's Minorca Regiment, eventually 96th Queen's Own Germans), a foreign corps Don was never in command. Don held a colonelcy in a different 96th Foot, a regiment raised as 2/52nd Oxfordshire in 1798 and upgragded to regimental status as the 96th in 1803. Don's 96th became for a few years the 95th when the green-coated 95th Rifles was rechristened as the Rifle Brigade. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.8.98.118 (talk) 10:43, 16 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
