Lovely edit

Quite obvious it must have been an outstanding poet regarding how incredibly marvellous his tomb is - just look at the lovely photos. But maybe someone knows anything about his life except that he under unknown circumstance died in Bedapest or about what he actually wrote? Otherwise the article would rather deserve to be named Gül Baba's Tomb84.167.205.222 22:31, 4 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Mehmet II ??? edit

This article has sources. But I am still spectical about a phrase in the introduction :" ... who took part in a number of campaigns in Europe from the reign of Mehmed II onwards." Mehmet II died in 1481 and Gülbaba died in 1541 while fighting. That means that he was an active fighter for more than 60 years. Since he was also a dervish, we may assume he had some trainning prior to his military duty. How old he was when he died ? I looked up for him in Britannica [1] There is no reference to his early years (i.e., participation during the reign of Mehmet II). I think the claim about his service in the reign of Mehmet II must be deleted. Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 07:45, 19 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Merging edit

There are two articles with very similar content.(Gül Baba and Tomb of Gül Baba) Before tagging for merge I'd like to get a second opinion from the creators. Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 12:34, 23 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

I don't have any strong objections, but I don't think it's particularly necessary either: the importance of the tomb in Hungary is distinct from the importance of Gul Baba in Ottoman history and so perhaps the two articles could just be rewritten accordingly. Hi User:Nedim Ardoğa, thanks for letting me know. But I do believe that these 2 topics are different and both of them deserve separate article on Wikipedia. The significance of Gül Baba and tomb named after him doesn't mean that they need to be covered in the same article. My reasons: a) There are hundreds of similar cases on Wikipedia, for example St. Stephen's Basilica and Stephen I of Hungary. b) The articles in different languages (Hungarian, Turkish, etc.) for Gül Baba and tomb are also different, so we can follow the same rule in English version as well. Please correct photo description! (done) edit

Dear wikipedians, unfortunately it seems impossible for me to correct this:

"Statue of Gül Baba in front of its türbe (mausoleum) in Budapest District II"

I think this needs to be changed to "(...) his türbe (...)"!

Very unfortunately this text is in a space which I seem to be unable to edit. I do hope someone with access will do it. 2A02:3032:10:B517:1:1:CBBE:7AA6 (talk) 11:44, 3 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
