Re-writing article edit

I am going to attempt to rewrite or at least improve this article. I think the current article's layout is counter productive to easily understanding the Awakening. I also would like to improve the sources used. Ltwin (talk) 21:23, 22 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

NOTE: And an important one. This article underestimated the Great Awakening - the GA was not limited to colonial America. The GA was in fact... global. It originated in the UK, existed in the UK simultaneously with events in colonial America. This article thus needs major repair. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ojo345 (talkcontribs) 19:01, 26 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Over 2 years later, I've finally gotten around to rewriting this. Today, I started with basic reorganization. The old format was not very logical, so I've rearranged things keeping whatever material was sourced and removing what wasn't. I also explicitly noted in the lede that this article is also about the 18th century Evangelical Revival in Britain and have redirected that page to this article.
My plans for the future are to continue to fill in detail on the revivals (both American and British). The British section is most in need of help at this point, but I will probably focus on the American revivals. I will also plan on creating a "Theology or Beliefs" section to go into detail about what the preachers actually taught about conversion, etc. and how this was similar and different to Protestant teaching prior to the Awakening.
Last thing on my list is to fill out the "Scholarly interpretation" section. The diff for before and after my revisions is here for convenience. Any help would be appreciated! Ltwin (talk) 03:29, 4 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
This is beautiful work. How can the article be reviewed to raise it from the current C-class to something better? I also question whether "low importance" is correct for the Great Awakening. Countercheck (talk) 20:33, 22 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
