"Marvel Comics" vs. "Marvel Comics universe" edit

One of the two terms above is used in most entries for Marvel Comics characters, which generally say either "so-and-so is a fictional Marvel Comics superhero" or "so-and-so is a fictional superhero in the Marvel Comics universe."

The two terms each go to separate Wikipedia entries. They mean different things -- one entry is about a comic-book company, the other about an internally consistent fictional setting, ala Tolkein's Middle-earth -- yet they are used interchangeably.

For consistency and clarity, it might be good to establish some sort of standard language for these Marvel Comics entries. I will post this comment as well in the Marvel Comics and Marvel Universe entries. --Tenebrae Sept. 6, 2005, 8:27PM ET

For the record, this has since been resolved by the creation of the Template:Marvel_Universe, which splits the difference.

Incorrect comparison edit

"He is about the size of a small moon (4165 miles in diameter)."

Small moon? No known moon is that big (with Ganymede being the biggest); the closest match in the Solar System is the planet Mars. --Anshelm '77 02:59, 12 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Thor-161.jpg edit

Image:Thor-161.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Adding to Alternet Verisons edit

It isn't metioned that in Wha...Huh? # 1, that in a alternet reality Galactus ate him and got food poisoning? -Golem866 (talk) 19:48, 14 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

I don't think the humour series Marvel does (there have been many) are relevant enough. Lots42 (talk) 18:35, 24 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Super-Ego edit

I notice the section about 'Super-Ego' was excised without explanation. Why was this done? It was a bizarre and important part of his publication history. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.163.78.104 (talk) 12:25, 1 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Agents of shield episode edit

There have been a ton of unsourced OR edits on this page recently aluding to the planet Simmons visited in the recent agents of shield episode (4722hours) being Ego. I feel like a mention of this might be appropriate if it is sourced correctly as a fan theory and nothing more. The theory is mentioned on a bunch of reviews, as well as a few articles from moviepilot.com that might be acceptable as sources.

To see some of these potential sources do a Google search for 'agents of shield ego the living planet'. What do people think?  InsertCleverPhraseHere InsertTalkHere  04:10, 1 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Sourced speculation is still speculation. I say leave it out until/unless it's confirmed by the show or showrunners. Argento Surfer (talk) 15:13, 2 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Fair enough, thanks for your input. I think you are probably right, I'll just keep this on my watch list and keep deleting additions to the article about the episode. It should die down in a few weeks.  InsertCleverPhraseHere InsertTalkHere  18:47, 4 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

"In a departure from the comics," edit

This phrase appears in the GOTG2 article, but it seems like it fits in more there (where the discussion centers around movie Peter Quill's relation to his comic book counterpart), but is "not the father of Peter Quill" a significant part of comic book Ego's character?
