Talk:Dot-voting

As the creator of the Dotmocracy handbook and sheets, I hope I'm not considered too much in conflict of interest in writing this article. I truly invite third-party review and constructive edits. --Jasondiceman (talk) 07:46, 5 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Jasondiceman, I think it's great that somebody has created this article, so thanks for getting it up here and introducing the idea to people. However I would suggest that the article should be revised to first acknowledge the broader uses of the term as described in the second paragraph, rather than starting off with the more narrow definition of "dotmocracy" that opens the article now. I bet more people are using the term in association with general sticker voting techniques than they are with this very specific, though perhaps original, definition. Any thoughts or responses before I make that edit? COCoFacilitation (talk) 17:57, 24 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

It's true that if you were to do a survey of facilitators and asked them what "dotmocracy" is, I'd guess in 2011 the majority would describe 'sticker dot voting' (maybe by 2014 that will change?). That said, looking at Google search results in 2011, "dot-voting" is probably about twice as popular as "dotmocracy" as a term for describing the sticker method. Maybe that second paragraph should be turned in a disambiguation box at the top of the page, pointing "dot-voting" to Cumulative voting? As well, maybe this page should be renamed to "Dotmocracy sheets" thus making it more specific. Thoughts? Jason Diceman (talk) 05:58, 6 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
